well, i've never tried Linux OS, windows is always the os that I used and it still provides all I need though knowing that Google will bring up their own OS excites me.

I won't try it because it is not compatible with anything. To be compatible, developers must make special programs for google os, just like they make for linux or mac.

Myself and a friend installed this on a couple of spare computers. This was about eight months back, so it may have improved since then. Anyway, the OS is basically Linux that has been stripped down to such a point that it only had a browser on it, and access to the Google cloud. Neither of us could get the cloud functionality to work, and the installation kept corrupting.
I don't see that it has a useful place in the market at the moment. If I install an OS on my laptop or desktop, I want it to be able to do more than browse the web and open an Office document.

Is that just an operating system for your Desktop PC, or a program on your Windows or Linux OS server?

Google OS is still under development and once it's officially released for public then there may be a havoc in internet world. Although it's not a full fledged OS and have very limited features but it's for FREE ;)

How does downloading it benefit webmasters, and increase SEO potentially?

It doesn't, but since the entire thread is on Google OS, it is relevant in that respect.
