No Follow Links Matt Cutts View

Discussion in 'Google' started by provaltech, Mar 8, 2011.

I found this article this morning about No Follow Links and how Google looks at them, I know allot of people have been looking for information about No Follow Links.

    No Follow - Matt Cutts

He goes on to say that "If they choose not to participate in the conversation...they might not provide the user a good experience...linking to sites that are good for users as well..."

As we know Google is looking for people that can provide a good user experince, so do people now think a NO follow link can have a negative impact on your website.

I'm guessing that this article is already old. I've seen Cutts talking about this in some of his videos in Youtube. Just go and look for it there.

Normal visitor cannot see by eye on difference of follow or nofollow. So it's not about user experience, its all about robots experience

No Follow cannot have negative impact. If I had 100 sites in my certain niche and put a no-follow link to my competitor, I would be able to sabotage him.

    Not going to happen.

Not really..if your looking for follow links..then there are many places to go..if you want a link back its best to add value to the community.

I saw a video of him saying similar things.
He said that NoFollow is NOT negatively affecting your website, it's you choise to do whatever you want.
However, he said that once you find a website that you trust, then you can give them a DoFollow as proof of that.

Will Google penalize sites which only link using the nofollow attribute? - YouTube.

I never figured nofollow links were bad for your site. I just thought Google didn't give you the same backlink credit that it would a link that didn't have a no follow attribute. Am I wrong?

False. Competitor sabotage is already history ever since Google stopped the spread of Google Bomb a couple of years ago. Your statement also contradicts the latter. How can you sabotage a competitor by having no-follow links if they don't have any negative impact whatsoever?

No follow link on a site itself has a good effect as compare to doffolow.

Nofollow and follow links are both good. :)
Nofollow doesn't pass any link juice - but its good for driving people to your site.
Follow passes link juice though, so its more beneficial.

Wikipedia is an example of using no follow tags for external links, its entirely depends on you.

Well there are lots of resources still there to get do follow backlink. And I don't think there would be any negative impact on visitors if you are providing relevant info through out your link.

Well, is that even an answer? Because, if you know about building links - you know which one is better and why.

A mix of both is a good broth I'd say. I see how no-follow has its user experience advantages but does little justice to SEO.

NO, Google do not penalize if we will use no-follow links. Even its good if you dont want to index some of the links.
