Just wondering if anybody ever experiences any traffic or benefits from having their websites properly listed on Alexa and AboutUs.org? Both sites you can customize your listings, and on AboutUs.org you can create a dedicated Wiki page linking to and containing information about your website. Even though they're noFollow links, I was just wondering from a marketing perspective if any of such listings have helped anyone?
Hello, as the community lead for AboutUs, I am curious as well. Sometimes we get anecdotal information from forums like this that says in some cases, yes people do get traffic from AboutUs - sometimes a lot. I think for AboutUs the question is a little larger. How does AboutUs fit into your online strategy - can we be your wiki strategy? As far as NoFollow is concerned - our editorial policy is to start out that way and if you have created a great community wiki page about a/your website AND you have a legit site (Viagra sellers need not apply) we can decided to remove the NoFollow - see http:// AboutUs.org/NoFollow. Here are some of the benefits we see: deep links to your site, anchor text that is appropriate to your message and a positive SERP. At our simplest view we are a domain directory and with the Wiki aspect of AboutUs we become pretty deep, pretty quick -- and the free SEO reports for your front page are pretty cool too. Look forward to what people think about all this and EGS's question. Best, Mark http:// MarkDilley.org
no you wont get any direct traffic from these sites but indirectly they can prove useful for your site in the long run!
You can expect some, but i dont think the number would be a biggy. However i would say it does have some good value.
Nothing from me but I've never had site so popular than people would actively look around Alexa looking for them.
