Not sure if you have forgotten your bidding directories, i just check all the links and have found more than 20 parked sites, you may delete them since they may hurt your ranking.
You are right, there are many bid links directory, but since Google Killed all of them. No one want to spend time or money about those kind of directories.
I never thought they where going to be a good idea, it's nice to finally see others agreeing with that.
Yes you are right as so many web directories as well as few bidding directories has PR back recently though i am waiting for PR back of m bidding directory. DON.
If you have a lot of listings, we have a nice automated tool that will check to see if the domains are parked. It's great to see people taking steps to improve the quality of their directory.
There were a couple of weak points in the business model: 1. Often bid directory owners purchased high pagerank links, and then there was the appearances that they were reselling that pagerank to the highest bidder. 2. Once a large number of bids were made on "lifetime" links, the cost of the top positions was increasingly cost prohibitive, so the directories tended to just die. Then I think it got especially bad when Matt Cutts spoke negatively about bidding directories. That probably delivered a strong blow to the bidding model.
Is this even a sustainable model for a directory any more? Isn't it pretty much accepted that it's nothing more than link selling designed to manipulate search engine rankings?
Hi guys, its been long time since my last post on this category of the forum since you have to search very deep these days to find a thread worth reading.... i believe that is not the type of the directory but the way you manage and factors such as how unique is... my bidding directory was pr4 at 2007 and it is still pr4 and had never been penalized, i know that they were some bid directories with the same quality and with honest owners that was penalized but those was 5% the most.
Agree. Our ABCiT Directory of Directories is less than 2 years old but in spite of that it has RP 3 which clearly says that Google has no intention to penalize bidding directories and all that talk about bidding directories is nothing more than noobs are talking shit. fastreplies
It's not so. I know bid directories that always had high PR and still have it. I think that Google kill bid directories not because they're bid directories but because some of them sell or buy links for getting high PR.
