Directory will not give you direct traffic much more but it wil help to increase your keywords popularity and SERP which help you to come your keywrods search in first results and by this you will get traffic
Funny this topic should come up, as I just made a blog post about this very thing a few days ago: http://www.zanderchance.com/2010/02/04/niche-directories-still-generate-traffic/ In a nutshell, I landed a primo spot on a niche directory, and it continues to bring me QUALIFIED LEADS each and every day, and has made me quite a bit of money as a result! At the end of the day, it really comes down to how trusted and how relevant the directory is..
I never got any traffic from web directories. Maybe some get it from DMOZ...but I don't want to pay for that. Directories will help you build backlinks and help you rank higher in the SERPS.
i dont get any traffic from the directories but I still do them just in case. it doesn't take much time and one sale will justify the effort.
A good directory will provide some direct traffic, but nothing to get too excited about. One of my directories includes a click counter. If you look at the "New Links" tab at top, you will see that new pages have 1 or 0 clicks, but as you move to the page of sites submitted two months ago, site have 6 to 16 clicks each: http://www.dirmania.org/new-links20.html This is proof to me that you can get some traffic from a quality directory.
Last time I looked, there were no traffic coming from web directories for my websites. I'm working on keywords... But directories are still useful for new sites, to get some backlinks.
One of my sites is listed in more then 700 directories, and nothing comes from them, maybe a few. Most people come from search engines...but these directories were only good for backlinks.
Common directories send very low traffic, but ones gives you back links. I don't submit for traffic, i submit for serps.
All depends on the directories your site is listed in. If your site is listed in 700 directories, I would speculate that these directories are most likely free and of low quality. They may have good Alexa rank, but that is just do to a large number of free submitions, not real site visitors.
I've been seeing a lot of info about directories. What is the significance of one? Thanks in advance. KG
Link Directory Submitter Link Directory Submitter is the perfect solution for sending your sites to a multitude of pre-configured online directories. Link Directory Submitter comes with 2700+ link directories. http://www.goandcheck.com/link-directory-submitter
I'm currently getting most of my traffic from referals, but I will submit to the big directories soon.
Consider building up a multi level blog.... and selling links on it... Content is what matters today... and i think Directories is a thing of the past...
