Ofcourse its absolutely not fair at all, but this issue had been coming up in the past for several years and ebay has still not done anything for the issue. That is the only benefit and advertisement tactics ebay users saying that its a buyer's world, other than a seller's world.

The buyers can just leave a negative feedback and forget it, till its been resolved or they are satisfied. The sellers have to do all the crap to get the negative feedback get removed either by a third party like squaretrade or the buyer itself.

It's not fair at all. eBay are making it harder for sellers, probably because the better sellers do the more fees are discounted. It they make it harder to sellers to achieve a good reputation, the less discounted fees!

I get ebay warnings all the time because i have ~97% rating. I don't sell much so it only take 1 or 2 negative feedback to ruin my discounts and limit how much I can sell. It even lowers my search rating too i believe. Most of the time I tried to resolve customer issues by taking a lost but some customers just cannot be pleased. And some just go straight to negative feedback. Ebay give buyer too much power. :(

I have had a few problems with buyers leaving bad reviews. Unfortunately, from what I have seen the only buyers that leave bad reviews are the shady and not honest ones. I am a power seller and I have just learned to never sell anything to those buyers again.. My revenge on them haha.

its easy for buyer to decrease seller reputation.
they can give positive feedback with low rating DSR (1 or 2 star).

Seller will get immediate restricted or limitation on listing.

    very-very unfair.

I suppose it puts more pressure on the sellers to be squeaky-clean.

Is it a new development? I shopped back in 2007 and had 4 feedbacks from the guys I bought stuff from. I bought a domain today from ebay, although still didn't receive any feedback from the seller.

eBay should allow sellers to leave appropriate feedbacks to non-paying, unresponsive buyers and scammers. I've had a bad experience because of this flawed system.

It is totally fair in my opinion because buyers online need protection in order to avoid being totally ripped off by other people. What should be the proper response though is for the sellers to work on building a greater rapport with the buyers by over delivering. Offcourse you always have those sour grapes who will give bad feedback regardless but we can certainly mitigate the harms by being as honest as possible..

*Tip: Look towards taking your business off E-bay after a few sales..There are ways to build Ebay rapport and then later have your own website to sell and deliver these products to customers w/out the un-needed bad feedback!

What can be done however, is to avoid selling to people who consistently give bad feedback on every sale..In other words, fire your customers if need be..You can't afford to always have your hands tied by people just because you need a bit of cash.

    Hi:

    Shireen here :)

Is not fair!! Some buyers even leave negative feedback without contacting first!

Normally I'll block any buyers who give me negative feedback.

Ebay's feedback system needs revising. One negative feedback can kill your score. There's been several lawsuits involving customers leaving unjust feedback and hurting sellers' businesses.
