New site design - thoughts?

Hi all,

I've recently been working on the design for my portfolio/blog. I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Here is the temporary URL.

If anyone spots any browser bugs then please let me know although I'm fairly sure it should be fine. Oh, and as far as content goes it's just the homepage at the minute. Once I'm 100% happy with the design I'll crack on with the other pages...

Looks good to me and pretty clean code.

Some users might expect the headline text in the main body of the design to be click-throughs with a detail page to read more about that subject area. Also noticed you used images for those. Any reason not to use stylized text?

I'm speaking of the headings "Great web design, with a personal touch" and "Websites with more than just a pretty face"

 

I see your point, I might look into maybe using Typekit or something for those headers rather than images. I'm not 100% sure on hyperlinking them because I've got the sentence below with the links in. I'll have a think though.

The only thing I may suggest is making the rotating images of the sites you've done clickable?

I think title "Kent Mayne - web designer" can make you more visitors than just "Kent Mayne".

Colours work but boring fonts although that's a matter of personal taste - the combination of serif and sans-serif follow design rules.

 

Also well, your slogan "I create usable and great looking websites" - usable for who? The admin or the site visitor? I think you should consider a better adjective or rewording it

It's looks nice but I think background color of the content (between header and footer) can use white color. It looks better than green color (gradient style). Oh, and once more. I feel text color on the footer isn't good color because I can't read well ( I have to mouse over on that text to read). If you change it become white, maybe looks better.
