I recently sold virtual game currency for 250$ on paypal and the buyer issued a unauthorised claim. Paypal said I am most likely going to loose the case because it was a stolen account. When I got the funds I sent them to my friend paypal account because I owed him money and he transferd the funds to his bank account. Now for my paypal it shows a negative balance and I was wondering if paypal can take the money from my creditcard or my bank account I have attached to the account without me knowing . I live in canada btw. Thanks
PayPal won't do that but whenever you will try to upload funds from your Credit Card or from any other source, PP will first cover the negative balance and then you will be able to use rest of the money.. To clarify even more, if you would need to send $20 to someone using your CC, you will have to pay a total of $270 (that will also cover the negative balance). I advice you to close that account and create a new one otherwise there is no way you won't lose that $250. Hope this helps.
Been there, and YES, paypal will deduct funds from any account you have attached to it. I had a negative balance on my Paypal account about a year ago. I was paying it down little by little but all of the sudden about 2 or 3 weeks with a negative balance, Paypal deducted the funds from a bank account that was initially tied to the paypal account. I had deleted all my bank accounts from my paypal account in hopes that they would NOT do this but they did it anyway... sux..
So what he added the bank account ? I have discarded almost 7 paypal accounts and used for 31 ghost accounts []
the op added his real bank account and paypal can now take money from that bank account or cc for covering -ve balance have you added your real bank account to those ghosts ?
it depends on countries. some countries authorize to take money to paypal from bank accounts some not. But still they can take money via user cc.
Paypal can take money from your bank account or credit card - You agreed to it while accepting there terms and conditions while signing up. Better block Paypal in your bank account or credit card if you dont want them to take the money. Its not your fault but its not Paypal's fault either. Those f**king hackers spoils things badly sometimes. You may also get bad credit score if they give your account to collection agencies and I think just for this small amount you would not want to get negative credit score. It may effect you in future when you try to get any kind of loan you might not get loan or may get at higher ROI. So I suggest you to pay it back.
