Should I publish an article I wrote to a bunch of sites like ezine or just one article per site or how does that work? Is there a limit on how many places I should submit an article?
I would try and submit unique content to as many places as possible - otherwise Google will not bother to index and follow links in all of the duplicated articles.
I will suggest you one article per site. Before submit same article then you would have to spun your article.
Can anyone share the link where it is mentioned that google consider it as duplicacy? I don't think there is any trouble in submitting a single article to many article directories.
It will definitely be good if you can create 10 or 20 unique articles and submit them to article directories. Choose the best directories to submit. One of them will be ezine.
maybe you better make it unique just use online service that will spins your article that will be better then duplicate
now duplicate content should not be a problem, simply go to yahoo news, copy some text from any news and paste it in Google, example "A child was killed, dozens of homes were destroyed and hundreds of people were evacuated as wildfires swept across tens of thousands of acres in West Texas" and the result listings are "143", all of first 10 websites are well known, why Google dose not punish all of them??
Earlier i used to do it but now i don't do that because Google finds that as a spam, and it wont be helpful for you.
There is no limit on how many place you should submit an article. You can submit one article to around 25-30 article directories. I do the same thing....
Although there is no limit but batter way is to submit an article in to some good quality article submission site. Google defiantly penalize duplicate content sites so it is good if you can make some changes in one article and then submit it I mean to say spin your article while use to submit in many sites.

Hello friend... News article doesn't count as duplicate content. Because you can't change or modify news Ex: If A killed B, if you change this news as A killed XYZ?????
Write an article for one site, do not copy paste the article. If necessary just rewrite the entire article and submit it in another article directory.
lol. It seems I'm getting 50% of people advising to write articles and submit them to a bunch of places and 50% advise to only submit a unique article to one location then write another article for another site, ect. Is there any official comment from google or anything or just a bunch of conflicting opinion? I appreciate all the advice though! If it matters I'm looking for white hat, long term SERP results only.
You can actually submit more than one article to an article site, however you have to make each one different. You can submit to different websites, just as long as each article is unique and well-written. Never submit the same article to different directories because the search engines will see that as duplicate and only one source is given credit by the search engines like Google and Yahoo. I think what the others here are referring to when they said submit one article per article directory is do not submit duplicate content.
