Subdomains - Are they competitive? What do you suggest?

    Hi,

I am developing currently my website. The address is www.infoseeder.com . The site will offer information on a wide range of subjects and i am thinking about to host every subject under a subdomain. So right now i want to start a Travel Guide for a couple of countrys. The subdomains will be like greece.mydomain.com .

So my question is... Is it a good Idea to develop something under a subdomain? Are subdomains succesful? In case you ask why i am creating a subdomain instead of buying a unique domain i must say that i want as i said to create travel guides for at least 30 countrys. And i am not gonna create only travel guides, maybe tomorrow i am gonna create a guide about greek food ( greekfood.mydomain.com ) or a guide about health issues ( health.mydomain.com ) or basketball ( basketball.mydomain.com ). Think about it something like the guides you find on about.com . So later i plan to reunite all the guides under one umbrella which would be www.infoseeder.com . It would be to expensive right now to buy so many domains. What do you think?

    Sincerely

    George

Bud, unless you are going to do MFA and traffic arbitrage, your idea is SOOOO DEAD.

Is it aimed at making money from advertising i.e Adsense? Or there something else there to it?

Of course i want the site to generate revenue through advertising and trough affiliate links. The question is can a subdomain be succesful like a domain? What are the disadvantages? I think one great disadvantage is that it is not so easy to remember from a visitor.

Should i better go for a new domain and will it pay off? Is it worth the money to buy the domain. So is it better then to have for each topic/niche a unique domain instead of building up a multitopic domain? What are your experiences in this. Does a domain earn more comparing it to a subdomain or is it easier to earn more?

    Thanks

    George

I think subdomains are slightly less effective than domains, but not by much.

i think since you can have multiple domains under one account, just register for a few more and put your articles under the sub folder name where it matches its topic.
