You are posting this in the wrong section. You also should mention that you do not pay for the samples requested. I know because I contacted you. Also will not mention the pay-even when asked.

Whether it is article writing or copywriting, awundrin, samples are not paid for, period.

Perry, while that may be true in the professional print world, it's not a smart thing for writers to do at this level. More often than not, the writers are told their work is not worthy or that someone else was hired and the unpaid for "samples" almost always turn up on the "buyer's" website or some article directory.

What are itraders for? Doesn't sound fair to request free samples.

I understand, YMC, but a sample is just that...a small part of something.

A sample of a 500-word article would be, say, 175 words, along with the writer's ideas on how he will make the article more interesting, what he will be putting in it...

Then again, maybe she does indeed require the article in full as a sample.

    If so, I agree.

There is no payment, regardless. It is a sample to judge a writer's skill.

If I requested another writer on my team, I sure as hell wouldn't pay for the article.

He can either send me two full articles (two different subjects) so I can see what kind of a writer he is, or he can go write for some snot-nose kid with his ugly site who pays 3 bucks.

Although there are article thieves out there, they are far and few between.

But I do understand where you are coming from.

Um, course575, "free" and "samples" are one in the same.

Email sent. It's rather funny to see so-called "writers" jumping up with "pm me the details or email me" when sandie_nicole made this part clear - how can you get a potential client to trust you're capable to research and write on a given topic, when you can't even read a few lines, think and act accordingly? :|

Well Perry Rose, you are obviously misinformed. As YMC said, those free samples inevitably get used by the buyers. It's very foolish to give anyone free samples when looking for work in a forum.

    "Misinformed"?

Sorry, but I'm not some rookie who doesn't know up from down, and I just heard it somewhere.

Read my reply again, and if you still don't get it, well, I just don't know what to say.

It's very foolish for anyone to hire a writer, a pro or not, without seeing samples first.

And only an amateur fool worries about having something as simple as an article sample piece stolen.

I am not someone who will use those articles for free, nor steal it. I'm seriously looking for qualified writers, and not just those who are good only for their previous work, and cannot write our topic, i hired many writers, and some of them are really terrible. That is why we decided to have a screening.

If a writer will do his best, 2 articles for sample test is just nothing comparing to the job that they will get from us. Also, in real world, before you get hired / get a job,it is necessary to take exam, and show how good your skills are.

With regards to the article price, it is usually the writers who suggest their price. If they will pass our screening, then, we will proceed to price/rates negotiation.

If you are a pro, you have nothing to be scared of.

... but if I am a pro and I got a few thousand articles published all over the Web and signed using my name, got quoted on Wikipedia and various sites, why should I bother writing a sample? Why would a pro need to prove its worth when his previous work speaks for that???

If someone is a "pro", they will know better than to jump through hoops to land a job they don't know enough about to decide if 1) they want it, 2) it's worth it or 3) if it pays enough.
