Hi guyz. Just read a news that google has changed its algorithm recently. theinfow.com/2011/02/google-changed-its-algorithm-improving.html is it true?
I really see a lot more crap coming to the surface on the U.S. version of Google results since about Thursday. eHow comes up for every damn thing. In most cases, it's no where near what I'm looking for. They need a ton more tweaks to get this thing any where near right.
I've taken to using Bing every time I realise I'm building a search in Google that looks like +"what I want" -"what I don't want" +keyword +keyword +"keyword" -"keyword". And I find myself making search strings like that more and more often because when I first type my query in, Google second guesses what I want and serves me up some rubbish that has nothing to do with what I'm looking for and doesn't even have my keywords in. Edit: eg, I was looking for something specific about Inkscape the other day and Google seriously served me PHOTOSHOP TUTORIALS. Which, funnily enough, completely lack the word 'Inkscape". Found what I needed first go in Bing.
Yeah, I'm using Bing more now too. I heard a recent stat about Google version Bing as far as quality. SEs definite of quality is a single search a single click and no return for the same result. I.E. you found what you wanted in one search. Google's 1 click success is 66% Bing's is 82%. How can Bing be copying your results, if people are more successful with it?
Google has only changed it and applies only on USA Search Results. So it wont affect majority results as Google says that it will only affect 12% of search results. So not to much worry.
It will be applied to all data centers soon. It needs tons of tweaks. I monitor over 50 niches all were shaken up, I doubt it was 12%, they are way off.
Can anyone remember past roll outs of new algorithms? 1. I know they never caused this much chaos. 2. I don't remember a U.S. only specific roll out that was more than a day. Does anyone else?
On one site, I noticed the google algorithm changed effected the traffic. On another site, I'm seeing a swift decline in the number of urls indexed in the sitemap. Anyone else want to share their experience with this update.
The current algorithm change on Google is mostly for duplicate contents.Google will now give importance to reputed sites even if it'll find duplicate content on other sites. The issue is mainly due to the copying of contents by low quality sites from reputed sites.
That's good. Time for Google to stop rewarding plagiarisers and making he victims of plagiarism suffer even more for being lifted from.
They still have plenty of kinks in their calculations. I have tons of sites and work for clients with tons of sites. The sites that were lifted from more, dropped in the rankings. It's probably just trying to figure into their algorithm, I hope.
I agree with you all, Google has changed its algorithm just to reduce the ranking of the website with low quality content. But ranking algorithm is same, there is no change in ranking algorithm and techniques.
