Can someone describe to me the major differences? I haven't been able to find any good articles on it and I want to know what it's like before I upgrade. Thanks

Better to backup all your files and database before upgrading.

What exact error it is showing when image upload fails?
Or perhaps you need to set the right image upload path according to your hosting. To check that you need to go to -
wp-admin >> settings >> Media >> Uploading Files >> Store uploads in this folder

Or perhaps it has somthing to do with your wp-content/uploads file permissions, make sure it is 755

No problems here. Sounds like an issue on your end, not WP 3.1's.

Honestly, I am always afraid to upgrade, but my upgrade went well, all works fine in my end..

Have you disabled all plugins, and switch to the default theme first to try?

I have no problems either, and Kimi is correct in how to resolve the issue. Your theme or plugins may be up to date, but one of them may not be compatible. Considering that you were able to navigate the site and actually write/edit posts -- the problem lies with them.

I've already upgraded 10+ sites. Seems to be working just fine. I enjoy the admin bar at the top of the posts and pages.

I had a similar problem I was unable to upload an image. However I left it for a few minutes and went on to do something else when I came back I tried again and it worked fine. I would try either logging out and restarting your browser. I was having the issue with FireFox but it only happened once.

Possibly the image uploader was replaced and another was in cache? I am not certain how the browser handles Flash objects (which that uploader is). If you have problems uploading, you can try the old Html image uploader and see if there is a problem there as well.

Why would anyone be afraid of upgrading to the latest version of Wordpress? It's so easy to move Wordpress to another site by just dumping in the MySQL database backup and starting over. I have a setup-debian.sh script I use for all my Debian based virtual private servers I run websites on. wp-db-backup helps facilitate this also.

Hello all and thanks for the reply

To be honest it is not failed when I am uploading images. It's simply not showing the upload screen even if I try to click it all over again. Hope you get me.
Now I am just using the library and not uploading directly to my post. It is wasting time.

    Please help.

i have also updated mine hours ago. but haven't experienced something that went awry though.
its probably some of the java or flash problem of your computer.
