What is the best script for a classifieds site?

I would like to establish a classifieds web site and still have to decide on what script I should use.
I will need a control panel for the administrator, an option for unregistered users (simple submission) and one for approved registered users, which should include a control panel, too.
There should be several categories with sub-categories, which administrator can manage. The administrator should also be able to manage the users and postings of ads.
Simple ads should be accessible for unapproved users and registered users should have some advanced features.
I consider having several product types. I.e cars, properties, furniture etc. And I still need to decide, whether I'm not going to focus on a niche.
I.e. If an add is place product type should be chosen and then applicable fields like:
* manufacturer / Brand
* model / make
* year built
* price
* contact details of seller
and more should be filled in.
Posting an add should create a page with an SEF url. And a listing link should be placed under the applicaple category + link feed.

What scripts of that kind are on the market? Does anyone have experience and is willing to share it?

 

C'mon people there should be that kind of software available and I am sure some of you guys do have experience with that.

* Insert logo, title text, coloring
* layout with different fields that can be changed, different themes/skins are an advantage
* custom pages
* free users, paying users (with time limits), administrators
* Free user panel, extended paid user panel, admin panel.
* Different ad posts with text only and those that can integrate hyperlinks (do follow / nofollow).
* Ads where pictures can be uploaded.
* Product categories, sub categories, countries and towns.
* Listing links with title as anchor text under subcategories. Newest First.
* Category specific sets of fields.
i.e for simple goods:
[item name, description, price, contact details]
i.e. for cars:
[make, model, year built, kilometers, price, description, contact details]
* Elaborate Search function.
* Search engine friendly urls established for products and categories: www.classifiedsdomain.com/category/subcategory/title.html
* Integrate adsense, additional scripts and affiliate marketing, google-analytics (perhaps that should be done open source)
* Have RSS feeds for new posts, per category, town, etc.
* Be able to integrate widgets with rss feeds and other scripts.

There are a lot of classifeds ads script that are available for free and also paid versions on the web. The most famous and the best i have used are:

1. Noahs classifieds
2. AJ Classifieds.
3. Classipress

I strongly recommend you using wordpress and converting it to a classified website as wordpress itself is a good framework that goes well with Search Engines.

Thanks Josh, I started communicating with some providers and I'm looking into their feedback now. I have some wordpress blogs, which I'm using for product advertizings, perhaps something to extend with an option for advertizer to submit products themselves? One consideration is drawing up ONE big classifieds site with a high quality software. Additionally I could add classipress to my other blog sites to allow for advertizing there as well.

Yeah some of these softwares allow advertisers to advertise on their own, in addition you could also charge for posting ads like classipress has the option to enable payments. All the best for your ventures!

I am also looking for a classified script. did u manage to get a good one? i need a script that offers premium stores or storefronts. I want to offer free listings and charge for storefronts.

 

Not yet, there were good once , but I haven't decided yet.
