I bought a domain about two weeks ago, developed it with a WP theme, slapped in some Adsense and CJ, and start to slowly build backlinks to the site. After nearly two weeks, I've had about 250 visitors (78UV). Suddenly, as I logged in an hour ago, I received an email offering me $80 for the site. Now, you must understand that I am hopeless with designs and anything to do with it and HTML scares the freak out of me, so for me to receive such an offer was very pleasing indeed. But then I got to thinking. In the long run, with some serious effort, there is a chance that the site will rise through the rankings and make some decent money as the keyword has one of the highest CPC. However, the question is, how long, and how much time will I need to spend on it (questions that I probably should've asked sooner, I know)? Nevertheless, what do you guys think about the price I was offered? Is it reasonable, or is this an attempt to rip me off? Oh, here's my site Thanks in advance.
If they are offering you 80 USD, it is worth. I see that your website's ranking is 0 and Alexa is 18,303,530. Your niche is low competitive. If maintained well, you can make thousands of dollars.
I'd sell it and reinvest the 80 bucks in another site, you have a long way to go before you start making any real money on it, especially with that few visitors.
Thank you for all your feedback and advice gentlemen. Much appreciated. I have decided that I am going to decline the offer and keep it. If I can get an offer of $80 for a two week old site, imagine what I could get once the site has matured, build up a few hundred backlinks, archived a hundred article, climb up a couple of PR's, and starts to actually make a little money from Adsense/CJ? At least, I hope so. lol.
Hold it. Do not sell it. Or quote a higher $$$ range as a reply. If the buyer replies, then you have proof that someone is really interested. Honestly I would not sell it. Put some fresh content, build backlinks and hold back the notion to ask for suggestions on a public forum giving out site's link. Do you want a solid competition at this time? Do not let anyone know your money fetching niche URLs.
As I mentioned earlier, it was barely two weeks old at the time. It has now cracked 1,000, PR0 and lands on page 9 on two keywords combo. Hmmm...I thought everyone realize now that hypens does not affect a domain quality. In fact, even Google places hypens on two or more worded domains in their algorithm. lol. Should've thought about that sooner. Thank you for the advice and tips. Thank you
