While checking the competition for a few keywords, I noticed a new site jump up in Google SERP's and did some checking into their backlinks. It looks like the only link building they have done (or at least the vast majority) are via links placed in user profiles on various forums. Not sure if this is only a short-term bump, but looks like the links were added in October 2010, and the site just now jumped up onto the first page of Google. We're talking maybe 500 inbound links all coming from user profiles. We're talking very competitive keywords that they are ranking for. Needless to say, I have registered on a few forums trying to replicate this success. Anyone have any similar experiences? If interested, can provide a list of these various forums which are being picked up by the Yahoo backlink checker.
I have the same problem with one competitor. I don't understand how. I tried to join the same forum and they dont aprove my sumision.
They're both backlinks - they both count. So, why don't you join a bunch of forums and do the same thing? Everything counts as a backlink - and if you're watching your competitors, then you can beat them to the punch. I know profile links, signature links, and links in posts work the best.
forum profile links are pretty low quality links and will only give you noticable benefit if you do by hundreds of thousands. doing a FEW would not help you any way. forum profile link building is a big business and some service providers are offering automated link building service using xrumer which wil give you thousand or two thousand backlinks a day. now the problem is, out of 1000 forum profiles created using xrumer or other automated forum profile building tools, only a small fraction of them actually end up having your links on them. out of those small amount of profiles, only 1% - 2% of them get indexed and ever see the light of the day. so if your competitor have 500 inbound links form forum profiles, they must have build atleast 500,000+ forum profiles over the course of months using automated tools. you would be better off building a handfull of quality links that will give you long term benefit.
Sounds like a good tip. I'm going to try this with my website. I'll do pretty much anything that is free, and will help me rank higher in google.
If you are looking for a niche forum, you might want to start with http://www.big-boards.com/ Good luck!
Yes, they are backlinks and they count but they have very low quality. It's better to get 5 high quality backlinks than 500 profile backlinks. + u never know how long those 500 profile backlinks will keep website on high serp.
For those of you that are interested in getting forum profile backlinks, I can provide that service for only $39 with 7000 forum profile backlinks for 3 keywords. Full report will be included. Also, for $45 you can order 10 .EDU hand built backlinks with a keyword of your choice.
I notice that some forums behave differently than others when it comes to adding your sig. I don't know if it's software dependent or an option. On one phpbb forum I added my sig with my new link, and it now appears on all posts I have ever made on that forum. On another forum I post on which uses vbulletin, it appears that only new posts are gettin my sig appended to it. I've made several thousand posts on the phpbb forum- so does that mean that my new sig/link are now going to get picked up by the search bots on all those pages?
I have had success with forum backlinks but the site had already 100K+ of backlinks already I don't think it should be the only link building you do to a site !!!
