From what I have read and heard, Yahoo is shutting down Delicious? Maybe something has changed but I remember that pretty clear. Anyhow, the best way to use it is to get integrated with the community. There's tons of people who use Delicious daily to help drive traffic to their sites and they all network with each other to help each other out. You need to start finding "power users" and reaching out to them. Eventually you'll realize a lot of them know and interact with each other daily.
Delicious does not bring the traffic at all unless you make a good keywords of your entry. If the keyword is good enough, then you can expect to be listed in main search. If You will be the only one who adds the site, your submission may be very low, so you should ask your friends to add it as well (I am not encouraging to open 10 accounts in Delicious.com though). Delicious can bring traffic if it has been listed in your public profiles, Friendfeed, Google Buzz and other personal updates aggregators.
You have to bookmark each and every single page of your site in delicious. However do it every day just one, then keep adding atleast 5 other user ids as your friends. Remember the work doesnot stop after you bookmark in delicious, you have to also do cross bookmarking. I've just signed up with Delicious. I'm still wondering if its helpful but probably worth since most bookmarking sites help getting backlinks..

Del is one of the best site for getting traffic, continuity is important to get some power to your account. Try to save at least few links each day so your account get some power. Then you can get more bookmarks for your links easily. One more thing is use proper tags at the time of saving it. Check out popular tags on homepage which are good for hitting homepage. Second thing after saving your link ask few of your friends to save it so it will get boost and probably hit the home page.
