It all depends on how competitive a keyword is.. for example if you were trying to rank for 'credit cards' then just some good onpage optimization and the keyword in the page title aren't going to cut it.

Once you've optimized your on-page factors... you need to look at building links to your website with the correct targeted anchor text.

Here's a great guide to beginner SEO from SEOmoz that I would suggest you bookmark and read... it's got some awesome information and should give you a great insight as to what is next!

Its all about keyword as anchor text in the backlinks you make and the onsite seo.

got your site indexed that doesn't mean it will show in the serp, it still depends on how you optimize your site for the keywords you are targeting...if you are targeting a competitive keywords getting indexed is not enough...

My dear friend friend, It is simple problem. I think you have targeted more competitive keyword for site. So you need strong off page work activity according to keyword.
    Thanks

Site optimization is the way to bring your result in search engine. Even if your site got indexed, you have to optimize your site in a proper manner.

Just by getting indexed doesn't mean your website will show up in google. It depends on the competition of that keyword and the number of backlinks you have for that keyword. So just check the competition and continue with the various link building techniques to get backlinks and you will surely see an increase in the keyword ranking.

Only by including keywords in meta and titles, you can't get search engine rankings. You need to build quality links as well. Exchange links with PR sites of similar themes, perform directory submissions, article submissions, forum posting, blog commenting etc.
