These are probably the best two free options out there: Artio - http://www.artio.cz/ OpenSEF - http://projects.j-prosolution.com/projects/os-projects/project-opensef.html
Artio is better than Open SEF in many aspects. Open SEF fails with lot of components. Especially those that use index.php as method for forms. Artio is hassle free. The support at Open SEF has not been that great as far as I know.
i used drupal for my movie review site and anime fansite though the site still need a lot work, but the script is simply the best, suited for my preference.
Druplal is easy to manage then joomla, it has clean navigation and you can plug new themes without hassle. Drupal has some god modules thta can help you with SEO stuff.
Hello i ve built 3 sites with Drupal and even more with Joomla. I think that Joomla is more pro and fits to community websites on the other hand, Drupal seems more easy to setup , kind like a blog. I managed to achieve SEO for Joomla with Artio SEF component.
I can't post a link yet but search for openSEF with google - it's number 1 ranking. I use Joomla for my site, the guys who says it is time consuming is wrong, it is very easy to manage and the extensions for it are available for everything. Also this is a growing and constantly developing CMS, it is forging ahead at great speed. The forums are helpful too. If you want to see a large site (600+ pages) with many components and openSEF installed come to my site: www. conanstevens. com remove the spaces I cant post urls yet. openSEF isn't working with the install of gallery2 yet, which sux but everything else is nice. Google adsense is running well too - and i'm making cash
Just have in mind that SEF components in Joomla make ur hosting providers unhappy if u have lots of traffic
you should try artio jomsef and see the different that's more simple, easy to manage, support more component (for now, jomsef is still the only one SEF component that support joomfish ) , and more faster loading
yes Artio is better component for SEO then comsef you can get all modules and component for joomla on http://extensions.joomla.org
default Joomla SEO engine works pretty good too. it just require a tweek on the .hatcess file. by the way, i have used both... and honestly preffer joomla. Joomla is fully customizable and whatever is not capable of... may be added when installing mambots/components or modules. I found components for pretty much whatever you may need... 90% of them are for free. I have tryed 2 comercial components that works very good and build some others myself.. building components for joomla is not that dificult. For those who run comunity sites, there is a component named comunity builder (old mambojoe) who integrates with forums and others components, so users can build profiles and so... honestly, at this day the only thing i haven't found for joomla is a "myspace like" funcionality add... but besides that, users may change and personalize look and feel with availble templates you upload. anyways.. there are a lot of myspace clones availble on DP forums... if you may be interested on one of those.
I found Joomla to be easier to work with then the more technical Drupal. As for SEO, which is often used in the wrong way, it works also very good with the right components in Joomla. I found OpenSef support very good, instead of the paid Sef Advanced. Most people ask and talk about SEO but they really main SEF, which is just one part of the whole SEO issue. But you can try both Drupal and Joomal basic CMS yourself, without installing it yourself at http://www.opensourcecms.com/
<---------- yes it is.... and here is the dilema. the idea of using a CMS (content managemet system) is to make the content behave dynamically by doing scripts who automatically generate html code with the help of the database... and this is literally not search engine friendly.
Arghh! No! More work! I've made a note to try this - thanks The one problem my site has at the moment is speed.
Speed should not be a problem if you do a good design. If your web is too long try to remove things from the frontpage; optimize images and the html request; files and objects the webpage load. check it using this web optimizer also; optimize your template.css using this tool
I just started with Drupal a few days ago. I already have a multi-site setup working hosting 3 separate sites with single-sign-on between them. I find the technical deisign of Drupal to be very easy to enhance/modify if you require more than the plugin modules provide. Overall I've been very impressed with it and plan to roll more sites out using it. Also, I read that TheOnion.com and UsWeekly both use Drupal. Two very large commercial sites. I'll have to try Joomla someday. But for now I've been happy with Drupal.
