Let me rephrase: I have a free web hosting from webs.com, then I bought just this domain "claradehuevo.net" from Godaddy.com and forwarded to "claradehuevo.webs.com." After that I won on Ebay a Web hosting service unlimited everything for lifetime. The Admin ask me for a domain I geve him "claradehuevo.net." So, he put the web hosting under that domain. Therefore, when I upload a file for example, Michael Jackson - Thriller.mp3 it gives me this link to download: http://www.claradehuevo.net/Michael%Jackson%-%Thriller.mp3 of course it would not work because of the domain does not have any hosting it is just to be forwarded. The IP for this server is 173.231.25.82:2082. So, how can I get the link like this instead: http://173.231.25.82:2082/Michael%Jackson%-%Thriller.mp3 That way it would work to download. I have seen this before, but I don't know how they do it.
First, remove the domain forwarding. Go to your godaddy domain manager, and change the DNS. If you do not know the new host's DNS, just ask them to send it. After some time, (usually 12 hours, max 48 hours), your website "claradehuevo.net" would be live to the users. During the transition, you can upload the html files to your webshosting using the IP address. Use an ftp software like FileZilla. Please post here, if you have any questions. P.S: Do not post any copyrighted stuff on the new server. Otherwise, you will end up in trouble. Read their Terms and Conditions, before you host anything on their servers.
Thank you for your reply, but keep in mind that webs.com is a free web hosting they don't use any type of ftp or html.
Oh boy...you're gonna be in for a heck of a wakeup call. Buying unlimited hosting for life off ebay for $1 is usually asking for trouble.
In a nutshell, whatever you paid for your 'lifetime account' will actually cost the server owner money in the long run. How much did you pay? $5? I see stuff like that all the time on ebay.
Lifetime hosting seems to be suspicious, I don't think it will last for a long. Take care ebay is full of scammers.
If your host is using cPanel (I believe you said in the other thread that they were), look under "Stats" or such on the main page. It will say "Shared IP address: xxxx".
The web address will be something like this: http://123.123.123.123/~cpanelusername/path/filename.mp3 Code (markup): Change 123.123.123.123 to whatever IP you have Change "cpanelusername" to whatever you use to login to cPanel, but leave the tidle "~" symbol. Change path to the path to the file in your file system. change filename to the actual name of the MP3 file.
I think you are getting there. I understood everything you said, but not about the patch. Can you explain with a little more details please. Thank You!
It's not patch, it is path....the path to the filename. For example, if you have it in the music directory (folder) in your public_html directory, it might be: http://123.123.123.123./~username/music/song.mp3 If you just have it in your public_html folder, you wouldn't need anything for the path. It would just be: http://123.123.123.123/~username/song.mp3
Okay! that's what I thought. I tried, but it did not work becasue it is in the "public_html" folder thank you. Let me try it
