Meta title should be a 65 characters long! i think now a 100 characters. if you are doing 100 characters long title then you have to put your targeted keywords at beginning of title till 60-65 characters. thanks!
I think every characters on the title segment treated as same in terms of emphasizing the rank by Search engine robots, do you have any specific instruction or real time experience that meta title getting less preference while we add it after 60 characters.. ?
You are talking about few cases..where short title tag ranks better than long title tags..I have decent no of examples where long title works better than short...
General rule of thumb for Google is to keep the titles to between 60-90 characters. As far as the description, It's a judgment call that arises from keyword goals, available content resources, and the type of product sold. Likewise, there are times where it's leaned on heavily to help promote a wide array of phrases, and others there may be a more focused, terse approach. 250 characters, plus or minus a fair margin.
Nice addition..but as we know Google is becoming a bit tricky with the Title tag with the latest algo update and emphasizing on h3 tags..let see what surprises comes!
Title tags and proper H1 tags and meta description certainly do help but if you do the guided job for on page and do a solid job of building back links that are of high quality you can get any web page to the front page.
i don't want to clear any body because all are looking from good experience in SEO but crawler read up to 65 character with space then we should just act wisely to place our main services keywords on title tag if you have more services you want to rank well then create more pages
It is very important and if properly keyworded or key phrased can help a bunch. If not properly titled than it can be of little or no value to you. So think before you post.

From my experience in working with many b2b companies in Silicon Valley. I know for a fact that 40% of weight comes from Title and URL, hands down. Again, i talking about websites with 16 years of domain age and thousands of indexed pages but still, Title and URL are by far the #1 ranking factors.
