I was born and live in the US. But I love to travel. The more I learn about India the more amazing it seems... incredibly ancient history, beautiful places, cool people.... crazy food... Do you live anywhere in India or have you been there? What kind of places should a traveler visit? Is it true there are a lot of vegetarians?
Yes it is a great country to travel, I had been there for almost 2 months travelling around places like Goa, which is a perfect tourist place and somewhat similar to vegas because of few casinos Then you can visit south of India for some beautiful scenery, temples and food You should also see Taj Mahal which is in the north of India and check out the pink city too. Also remember to go in a winter or spring season instead of visiting the country in summer, you will be boiled by the time you come back to US. I am sure, some of more DP members from India will help you out in this thread, Good Luck

sound interesting,, i think india is the right place for traveling, i wanna visit taj mahal,, sounds good..
Welcome to India!!! You'll definitely love this place like anything. As most of the DP members advice, have a visit during the months of September, October and December. You should visit East, west, North and South India. The common places are Taj Mahal, Marina Beach (longest beach in the world), Kerala for boat houses, Goa, Elephant ride in Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary, Kaziranga natioanl park for Rhinos of India. You'll definitely spend more than a month here...
Yes. When you say "I'm vegetarian" to an Indian, they totally get it... unlike the Chinese who seem to think that vegetarian means "not too much pork" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism_by_country#India
If you would like to see the REAL than I would say that travel to north indian cities including districts, towns, villages etc. You will be amazed to know that the india we are talking about nowadays do not fit in poor sides of india.. You can't even find a single luxury there. Indeed Its true..
