Keeping the momentum going.

    Hi,

I am working very hard on my blog site adding new features, new content and so forth. I guess that Google and other engines have noticed the change(s) and traffic has been going up and up over the past few 3 months.

But I want to keep this increase going for another few months, to build a stable user base, and I was wondering if there was any advertising I could do/use.

I already do the 'cheap' basics, I am more looking for some other kind of advertising that would bring me some 'real' visitors.

Any suggestions on how I could keep the momentum going?

    Thanks

Get your website listed on blogs by offering some type of promotion to your already existing userbase. You can also do some media buys and advertise that way.

You might even offer a way for readers/users to tweet links from your site. It'll help increase the number of times Google's spiders crawl your website and should help with rankings, though not directly, and bring traffic directly.

I am bit confused before suggesting something as I don't know the exact niche, you are focusing on. This thing must be properly cleared that there is potential available in that niche for more. In my point of view, the identification of true and valid visitors is very important here as after that you can plan for targeting these by using some routine techniques. The cheap techniques worked well for your blog, that is good, try to explore which one was more effective, and try to manipulate that tool with more expertise, trick and skill. best wishes.

Where are you getting your traffic from? Focus your efforts there without dividing yourself too much.
For example, are forums bringing you the most traffic? Then concentrate it do it well.

Truth be told I think I am getting traffic from search engines only, I have not paid for any form of advertising.
I think I am been rewarded by the SE for new activity, (new plugins, various improvements and so forth).

I am happy to spend money on advertising, but I don't think spending money on link(s) will help me.
Any other suggestions for a blog host?

Maybe some good old article writing?

This is part of the latest changes I made, Facebook, twitter and so forth.

I am not sure where a blog host can go and advertise really.

Not sure I follow your reply, my exact nice is 'blog hosting', Journalhome is a blog host, (a free one). I want to bring new users.

The site was in bad shape to start with, (full of spam, slow and so on), but now that has been cleared up and new features have been added I think this is why I am been noticed by search engines.
I just want to keep that momentum going :)

Not sure what you meant by "cheap basics" but in my experience, I have gained the right kinds of visitors by doing promotions on my own. Any PPC ads I've done have not been worthwhile (may not be the case for everyone but just for me). If you don't have some kind of sharing feature, put on in asap!

By that I mean, website submissions, article submission and a PR release or two.
I have also been doing some form of social interaction, (forum replies/help).

But I did so little that I am not expecting much results from those.

What sort of promotions? Everything on my site is free*, so I cannot really offer much more.
    * I do have some payment option for 'gold' memberships, but I am in the process of removing those.

I agree, this has been my experience in the past.
Maybe I did something wrong, but I just lost money for little or no results.

Do you mean twitter and Facebook?
I have done those, (you can see them on the site and on many user blogs), and it has resulted in some more user interaction, but it is too early to see the full benefit I got from them.
What other sharing do you think should be implemented?

You could run some sort of referral contest. Users of your site who refer a certain number of people (Who start their own blogs) get special privileges (Get featured on the frontpage or some other reward) or prizes. You could also guest post or advertise on some popular blogs that are likely to attract people interested in starting their own blogs for free.

Those are interesting suggestions, my only issue/problem is that my plan has always been to make sure that all users have the same privileges.
I do have the ability to create different groups, (with various permissions), but for the most part all users are allowed the same things.

Of hand I cannot think of a 'special' privilege I could give to some users that would be a strong enough appeal to them...

I will look into guest posting, that's also a very good suggestion.

    Thanks

Most of the most popular bloggers are accepting ads, try those, I doing it and it's working.

I agree....if you need more links to your blog do some more article writing
and video marketing. Those two traffic methods will bring more backlinks
    to you.

there are several means through which you can bring good traffic back to your site, i guess you are on social networking site through that you can bring good number of hits, try to built fan-page on facebook, tweet on regular basis, be on linked in (it can be a great resource)
other than this, you can use off-page techniques such as social bookmarking, article submission, directory submission, press release, yes all this can take time and require a hardship but surly this help a lot to bring traffic back to your site, other than this be active on forums and comment on blog related to you niche, it can provide you a regular read ship what you need to do is just maintain healthy relationship with other blogger,....
occasionally, try to post guest post on other blogs, it will help you to get know and built a loyal readership for your blog....

    Hi,
Impossible to say will articles help without knowing the articles. If you don't want to spend money on SEOing articles, then I would recommend you try to post your articles on a micro-blogging site such as Squidoo and then comment on other people's articles (lens, hubs) for a chance of being found.
There are probably SEO books in the library you can read. I'm probably biased in saying that professionals will do a better job, but its good to have at least some understanding yourself.
    Good luck!

I had a similarly disappointing experience with AdWords. Paid an average of 90 cents per click-through and got a tiny fraction of the traffic to actually interact on the site (WannaBuddy.com).

I have much better success with blogging on other sites a author's credit link back to WannaBuddy.com than anything else I've tried.

    Good luck!
