Spider came but no index, what??

I always thought that when the spider made it to my site at least the url of the main page would be indexed. I added my site to google sitemaps and it gave me the message:

Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Oct 10, 2006 .

This is the second time this happended. There was one on the 6th also. Is there a reason I'm not being indexded. I searched my domain name and it shows up being on other sites, DP, article sites etc.

WTF is going on lol. No loving from google, even after dinner & a movie mind u ;)

Yes I do use sitemaps & no problems, except it's slow on updating.

I would say that if you recently started using it, give it a few weeks to "catch up" to your site.

It's usually about a week behind for me.

Keep waiting, after submitting a sitemap to google, it also showed Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Sep 10, 2006. But only Oct 1, 2006, they listed my modified site.

If 2 month past without result, I think you shall contact them. I sent them an email on Sep 28, 2006, and Oct 1, 2006 they listed my modified site. Though not sure that's my email caused them to update my site, contacting them will give you some reasons why your site is not indexed.

Usually your hosting company provides a statistics program so you can see ips that visits your site, hits, unique visitors, etc.

Awstats is a program that provides stats: http://awstats.sourceforge.net/

You can install this on your server or use one that you already have.

My hosting company uses webalizer but its brutal compared to this one. lol.

Yeah that's one reason of many as to why I bailed out on a host. Not very flexible in offering stat programs to help with referral sifting.

Actually now the spider has finally come to my site. I think its a weekly event once you get indexed. Try and get your link on a high ranking PR site which is regularily spidered (like this forum) and the spider will come quicker.
