* Have a good climate. Not too cold; not too hot. NOT Canada.. * Have a stable, but small, government. Not too fascist, not too anarchistic. No religious governments, please. Hmm...not Canada again...but then none cares about the Federal Government...unless you live in the east..come to Alberta Klien had been ruling for 14 years. We are totally conservative no other parties survive here * Not tax income made overseas. That's pretty important for web publishers. Oh you have to pay taxes here for everything that you can/can't understand..you have to pay taxes for being alive kinda thing * Have good access to quality medical care. That's pretty important for old web publishers. Not Canada again...although we have free healthcare my mom was stuck 4 hours in the emergency waiting room and there was nothing we could do about it!! * Have good access to shopping. That's pretty important for married web publishers. Yep, as long as you can drive...if you can't...forget it...atleast in Calgary * Have reasonable real estate prices. Some very shabby countries have outrageous prices for reasonable decent houses. Nope, not Canada again...houses in Calgary are more expensive or as expensive as in Toronto..doesn't make sense * Have reasonable prices for goods. Basic goods are very expensive in some countries due to transportation costs, and very expensive in other countries due to crippling tarrifs. (We have reasonable prices kinda...but that's for stuff like food and basic stuff...after that...you can get all sorts of crap put in to make sure you pay an outrageous amount for everything liek charging 400 a season for skiing..)
Im a big fan of the UP, great place. I think about moving up there often. But will probably end up in eagle river sooner or later.
Eagle River is a nice place. Actually, the whole area is beautiful - but I am hopeful, if you do decide to move this way, that your livelihood is independent of where you live (presumably, you are a helluva lot better web developer/SEO guy than me). Do not - I repeat - DO NOT open a French bistro in the land of the Pasty.
A fair comment Burta, New Zealanders and Aussies are always busting each others balls especially when it comes to sports. But lets not forget that Australian's make up the highest amount of tourists visiting New Zealand.
LOL and that Australia ends up being 1 in 9 New Zealander's home in the end! We Aussies visit for a holiday - but the Kiwi's hang around and make it home. It is actually pretty crazy how many New Zealanders actually end up emigrating to Australia or the UK.
It's true that plenty of New Zealanders end up living in Australia for good. (Just ask half the Australian League team) However I personally don't know any New Zealander's who have emigrated to the UK for good. They've all ended up moving back to New Zealand or Australia.
You should try haging out in South West london There are 5 Kiwis playing in my rugby team alone who have settled over here.
Sorry, off topic, but Hon Daddy Dad, I once had many colleagues from Adelaide, and regretfully we've lost touch. What is the area like?
What do you mean what is it like, it's a pretty boring Australian city as far as Australian cities go in my opinion. Within exception to Hobart and Canberra it is probably just about the most boring capital city in Australia.
If you do, I hear Latvia is nice. I have some great friends from there, including one who is an American who moved there. Great people! Lots of fun, and extremely up on technology!
Adelaide. I haven't been there myself. I here its a quiet city. More of a family oriented kind of city. I hear it has some beautiful beaches where you can enjoy great white shark watching.
San Fran is number two in prices.... I believe Manhattan is the most expensive place in America. The only viable chose after America...for me...is Australia. I might go there regardless. They're very lax on their flight industry.
