I need to know about BB code and how can I apply it?

Different BB's have different codes, but they have pretty much standardized them. Good luck!

 

Bulletin Board Code or BBCode is a some tags used to format posts in many message boards. The available tags are usually indicated by square brackets surrounding a keyword, and they are parsed by the message board system before being translated into a markup language that web browsers understand—usually HTML or XHTML.

 

BBCodes are shortcut tags that are transformed into html elements.

In newer board versions, they can be custom built (a YT tag that would embed a youtube player)

It is possible to colour the text [color=]red
[/COLOR]​

look this example, if we write "red" just after = then it will make it red. Just try it.
square bracket is called BBCode, it similar to HTML tags but BBCode is LightMarkup Language which is used to format your message.
