How many target keywords should a site have?

 

There is no specific numbers for targeted keywords. You can choose many keywords for targeting your website in search engines

It's depend on no. of webpages your website have. For home page you can target around 8-10 keywords.

 

Well to develop target keywords for site, it depends upon length of web pages,if your site is small having 5 to 6 pages, than total target keywords must be 10 to 15.

 

sex keywords must be targeted and you can get good visitors if all keywords on top.

 

You can have many keywords if you want. My home page has 12 keywords

when ever i search for or read out the seo cheat sheet of seomoz it always mention the limit IN CHARACTERS but my point of view is this length concept is now obsolete

hi, actually its depends on you or the clients some of them like to have 2 keywords or more. but in starting of a website minimum 5 keywords is ok.

 

Well for me it's up to you whether you like many or few key words as long as you can manage them properly and get them in ranking.

 

Well - it all depends. Are you targeting a keyword for your main site? Or multiple keywords? Because, based on the content of your website - you can rank for a bunch of keywords - just the homepage.

But how? Well, on-site optimization, with quality content is the best way to rank.

Also - we don't know how many keywords you should target - why? You're the website owner, that's your job to figure out what keywords to rank for, and what keywords to build links for.

So, if you haven't found the keywords to promote yourself on - then why are you trying to work online in the first place? Most webmasters tend to learn the ropes, and see what keywords they want to advertise on before actually doining it.
