my wife is the same way - so we have 1.0 fish (Beta) I had allergy shots as a kid so I could survive the furry creatures.
I couldn't imagine having allergies... if my bf (future husband) or kids had allergies I'd give them shots, lol I can't live without my dog.
and here's something I didn't know until 2 weeks ago - my Dad told me that my heart stopped once (allergic reaction) to one of the allergy shots... Dr. had to give me an adrenaline shot...thankfully I don't remember it!!
OMG how scary!!! Sorry to hear that, at least you don't remember and survived!! Well how about this... my DOG gets allergy shots... poor guy. The most severe allergies the doctors or scientists have ever seen in a dog. Food & environmental allergies.
I know!! 'Somebody' likes me up there Weird finding out about it now - I was like thanks for telling me Dad -------------------------------- Poor dog! I didn't know they could be afflicted as such!!! You should have Animal Planet do a show on animal allergies, he could be the featured pet!!
Definitely... now I'm going to be scared to give my kids allergy shots, lol. Actually isn't it less likely for kids to develop allergies to pets they grow up around? Did you have pets as a baby? I should contact animal planet... I'm still paying off his vet bills, maybe they'll help me out, lol! No but seriously, it's an ongoing struggle with him... he almost died, and I know it sounds crazy because allergies don't seem serious. He is on a special high quality food, and was doing SO much better until recently... though he environmental allergies ::knocks on wood:: are doing much better due to the shots. Hopefully another year of them and we can stop. We may have to search for another food, or try homecooked or BARF ... which I'm dreading because it's SOOO much work. Also, think about when we have company... I'm constantly diving underneath everyone if they drop a potato chip or popcorn... it stinks!
Some information: Axolotls are strange little creatures that have become quite popular as pets over the past few years. Commonly known as Mexican Walking Fish, Axolotls are actually amphibians like frogs and toads. Amphibians usually develop from an egg into a larval form and finally into an adult. But axolotls remain in their larval form throughout their life. If they did grow to adulthood, axolotls would look just like their closest relative, the Mexican Salamander. Salamanders live on land but axolotls are completely aquatic. They do have lungs but breathe through their gills and also through their skin. Axolotls only need to be fed every two or three days. They eat tadpoles, soft insects, worms and even small fish but can also be fed small pieces of raw meat. An aquarium for Axolotls should have water at least 15-20cm deep and between 14-20 degrees Celsius. Other fish shouldn’t share the tank or they could be eaten and if there are too many axolotls in one tank they might fight. Luckily, if your little axolotl loses a leg it will grow back! Axolotls are famous for their amazing healing abilities. They can regenerate almost any injured part of their body, including the limbs, tail, skin, and even major organs like the heart, liver and kidney. The most common colours for axolotls are shades of grey and brown but there are also golden albino, white albino, black and spotted varieties. Axolotls can grow to be as large as 20-40cm and live for as long as 10-15 years.
OMG, that is insane RLM... I feel like you're pulling our leg. I've never heard of a Axolotls. Regenerating a HEART? OMG... it's seems like too cool a pet to be true. Talk about a conversational piece, or pet rather, lol!
Haha yeah I do a lot of explaining when we have guests. These were given to my daughter from her elementary school. They were the classroom pets for a while. My daughters teacher explained that the university here in Indiana is currently researching the Axolotl to isolate the gene that allows this strange regeneration, in hopes of benefitting us humans. Cool stuff!
I don't know of a correlation between being a baby with animals or not as it pertains to allergies. I'm also allergic to dust, mold, trees (pretty much all of them), grass, and on and on. Hopefully these were not all growing in or near my crib. Hey, if you opt not to go with the shots, just outfit them with one of these
That's so funny!!!! Well I don't have kids yet, and I'm hoping that growing up with pets in the house will help them build an immunity to any allergy they would have. If not... well then I'll just have to invest in one of those cool toilet paper hats. Dual purpose
I've been keeping many, many different kinds of aquarium fish for over 10 years, and I've never even heard of an Axolotls. Crazy!!!
