Hi, I need your help. We sold a product to a buyer and got it delivered to him. He then opened up a paypal dispute with us saying the product was faulty and I stupidly gave him a full refund of 230 EUR after a few hours. Now I have told him several times to return the products to us and he never replied. I then phoned him up and asked him to return our products and he claims that the products were damaged and he repaired them. He then said forget about it and hung up the phone. He also sent me a few emails of excuses which included: a. my baby just died and i am having a hard time. b. your return address was wrong and the post returned it to me. I know there is nothing i can do but i have his full address and phone number. What should i do?
HUNT HIM DOWN AND, tell him he is a mean person. Unfortunately that is part of the risks associated with business. Maybe you can take a better look at your return policy and prevent things like this from happening in the future, just learn from it and move on.
lol you should have never given him any refund before he returned the item. I think you can't do anything now, forget about the item.
It was not the most expensive lesson you could have learned so look on the bright side. Good luck in the future!
Well you should be happy coz at least you get some refund. Next time you need to have proper refund policy to not get cheated by consumer.
First of all, You should never issue a refund until you are 100% positive that the item was damaged, and even then i would ask them to return the item to me and once it is received they will receive a refund - You are very lucky that they agreed to refund 150 EUR, Most of the times in this scenario you would have lost all your $$ =(
Standard practise is you wait to receive the item before issuing refund. Next time you won't make this mistake again.
File a case against him, saying " Customer reported a fault in product and we refunded him the amount, the customer has not returned us the product though he agreed to return it back to us. Moreover he claims that he has repaired the product, if he has repaired the product, then he has to give the amount back which we payed him"
I hate to hear stories like this. The products I sell are cheap enough that the occasional con-artist is bothersome, but not too damaging. What is wrong with people?
I think you should have showed the same to paypal, I dont know about pay pal but in normal case of chargeback the company also goes back to the supplier or vendor to cross veryify the dispute. you had a good chance of winning the dispute.
Just be more mindful of who you do business with, I know that in these hard times thats easier said than done. Maybe a quick look over and a bit of change to your return policy may be in order. Not alot you can do hindsight but chalk it up to a learning experience.
