What to do with a PR 6 domain [SEO]?

Ok, so since I've got a substantial amount of experience with SEO I applied for a job at a webhosting company. One part of this job is to do the SEO for his website, which is a PR6 domain. He's already ranking quite well for a bunch of terms on the first page, but honestly I've never did any SEO for a big high pagerank website like this. I always did my own SEO for small, beginner websites where I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Although initially I felt very confident, I then started thinking about what strategy I should apply to this website.

I'm really worried that I might do some things that will actually bring the results down instead of up, even though I know exactly what I shouldn't do. With the 'power' of such a unique content filled domain, with a lot of one way incoming links and PR6, how would you guys handle the SEO for this? Would you only trade links with high PR domains, or would you not do reciprocal at all, or limited? I've noticed most of the one way incoming links are from his hosted websites, since it's a webhosting company which automatically adds links on the domain parking pages and so on.

The SEO used to be done by an SEO company, which I didn't know before the interview, and am currently doubting wether I can deliver the same results. After all, I've been asked to do the SEO part AND SEA, so I only have one half of the day to focus on SEO, so is it realistic that I would create better results vs. an SEO company which is busy doing SEO all day, and nothing but?

Anyone replying thanks so much for your advice.

No reciprocal at all, webhosting and web design companys get inbound links easy anyway.

I would concentrate on things you can do to the actual sites coding, url structure and loading times. Maybe get a few articles done and submit them to major article directorys.

Do not buy links, do not exchange links or your asking for trouble with an established site like that. Do not add any outbound links to the site.

Is it just a web hosting site? Does it offer any other services? If they are web design/deveopment or SEO services you can add it to the terms that every site you work on links to the site and thats the easiest way to get inbound links for such a company.

Of course posting in the right forums always helps and on the right blogs, but be careful with this dont just go round spamming the world, make sure the places you post actually are worth posting in.

if you want to have the same positions in the future, at first check the natural seo and history of a website at all. if organic links not creating - buy good links from trust resources. Do SMO. Don't waste your time on sh*tty directories or SB's. And read GOOGLE)

    that's all i can saY)

You should submit article to authority sites and improve your SEO techniques. You should do more of forum posting and article submissions.

I wouldn't give the previous SEO company too much credit. Yes it's a PR6, but web hosting companies generally don't have HUGE amounts of respectable competition in their niche and yeah it's easy to pick up one way links with that kind of company. In other words, don't be intimidated, and continue to grow his on site content. Trade with high PR if you want and can get them, otherwise forget that, and focus on getting relevant one way links like you would any other site. The rules shouldn't change when dealing with a juggernaut PR6 compared to a fledgling PR 1.

Yes I agree with the "Converting Copy", Its easy for web-hosting companies to reach PR 5/6 but further it is difficult, you can't increase PR without having Really Big back links but you can do one thing, find out some gaps that are left for you !! by other big hosting companies (I mean find-out some keywords that were not used by big companies(PR > 6) but still can bring good traffic). So that you can get all traffic for that keywords :). The previous company did their work of getting 6 PR Now you should concentrate on Keyword targeting and increase the Traffic.

I have to disagree. The rules SHOULD change if you're getting paid by a company, instead of just working for yourself (I do SEO/PPC professionally managing about 15 big clients). Just do everything right. One big tip I have for you is to keep their online presence very active. Propose that they start a blog if they haven't. Draft online press releases and syndicate them. Be active on the social media scene. Plan and present a contest proposal to your boss or whatever. etc, etc.

I think you don't really need to worry about that, just do normal seo activities you do for your own domain, because there is nothing special for high ranked sites, they are also ranked in this way as well.
