Hi, I've got a simple question. Is there any big money in web directories? i've seen many ppl making directories. Should I make one? How hard or easy it is to handle it? I would love to see some nice tips from helpers
As i think not big money but its good though sell some featured links, just give it a try as i'm doing for linkshall.com its a new directory but seems its getting better and better
"There's always money in the banana stand." You gotta have something unique now - be it high PR or a new idea - but a standard directory is hard to monetize.
No some times there would big money if you purchase some PR5 inbound links to your site and you may get some PR because of this and yopu may see thefeatured links at a very high price
Like in any business 10% of the players will make 90% of the money and 90% will make the remaining 10%. No money on the free directories only work…
Definatley money to be made, but i think it'd be more work than just submitting your directory to others and buying sitewides on em'
If you have money to invest you can get a directory that will make you money... but to get to that point youll have to invest plenty, and ideally get at least a strong PR6
I guess directory is one of those jobs that you get as much as you put into it. I started a directory about 2/3 months ago but I am too busy to manage it so I am waiting for a PR update to sell it.

Making a good directory is time consuming and expensive I am spending around $1,000 a month on my directory Ask, I don’t even imagine what Alive or Aviva are spending.
Like any business the directory business has to be backed up and supported by a sustainable marketing,technical and management program Which absorbs 1,000's of dollars monthly
If would be very very hard if you want to make a quality directory.. You need some budget (around $1000 or more),time,patience. If you only want to make a directory,it will take 5 mins only.
I dont have that much money to make a quality one . And one thing else till you dont have a quality directory ppl wont pay for the featured links. Am I rite? and how much time it takes to make the directory a good one (any option without INVESTING).
Maybe hard hard work getting traffic back links etc, but I agree people will not pay to be listed on an unattractive poor quality looking directory. You will need a minimum time of 1 year without investing, and you will need some luck along the way too
