1.Not believing that money can be made online.
2.Assuming that making money online is very easy.
    3.Giving up too early.
4.Starting many things together and loosing enthusiasm in completing them.
5.Creating an e-commerce site of hundreds of pages and assuming sales will come.
6.Entering into a niche which they know nothing about. Just entered because it is a profitable niche.
7.Targeting very generic niches and not giving much attention to long tail keywords.
8.Keep in mind that you are clever than search engines and advertisers and breaking their TOS.
9.Using link farms to get easy links.
    10.Spamming social networking sites.

I think that 2) and 5) are the biggest and most often mistakes made (with #5 not being specific to the niche, more of the "build it and they will come" theory). Remember that when you're making money online, you're making money off people (even though your audience potential is huge). It's never easy to get people to part with their money.

I have been guilty of many of these especially No4 But I never lost enthusiasm. I just got totally confused and suffered from information overload. the best thing I did was to stop trying to learn from my own mistaked, and took on a mentor, it worked out much cheaper in the end instead of buying all those eBooks and programs full of false promises

ya, number 4 has been my biggest problem. I have got to the point I "think" i know everything so I go trying everything all at once. Not getting much of a result I run off and try something else, guess what happens then... nothing.... so, I run off and... you get the picture.

I have realised this however and made up my mind this year i am sticking to just a few key things I think I can pull off.

Thanks for that. As a novice myself I'm happy to get to learn from other's experience instead of wasting tons of time wondering why what I'm doing is not working.

I have seen a number of startups fail because of #5 and #6. It is so important to fully understand your target audience! Knowing their needs, wants, and concerns partnered with the right response are vital for business to thrive.

I think it's very important to know about those mistakes. Stay away from those mistakes and choose the right way to go. It will save your time.

Novice's are not the only ones to fall prey to these. I can't count the number of times i've had "SEO" firms approach me to buy massive amounts of links or to enter into blog spam of some sort.

    11. Reading page after page of other people's ideas and methods without picking something and DOING it.

That's what I was the biggest victim of, but lately I've gotten in gear and the money has been coming in!

Number 1 and 3. So true. I usually give up way to early and fail to beleive I can make money online. I have made so many sites and always leave them to collect dust. Now I am starting to spend more time on a site rather than imediately giving up.

It isn't easy... but it can be done. But very few people actually make a reasonable amount of money online. I remember that a few years ago most adsense users didn't even make $50 per month.

Number 4 has always been my weakness... though time and experience has fixed this, and I have learnt to concentrate and spend my time more wisely, without getting too carried away on numerous projects
