Hey Everyone, It's been a while since I was last here and I'm glad I am back In the meanwhile I was working on my blogs and I noticed that for some reason, wordpress has been throwing out this error at me: In several plugin and template pages. Does anyone know whats causing it and how I can go about fixing it?? Thanks
Okay, in the Admin area. Are there links showing for these individual theme or plugin pages, or are you accessing the pages directly via a bookmark? If accessing via a bookmark, that error may appear on later plugins and theme pages that use nonce's on their forms. This is for security purposes. Is this for all theme and plugin pages, or just some? As explained above, older plugins and themes will not have nonce's. You may want to look twice at these plugins, for they are badly out of date and/or poorly written. Are you logged in underneath an Administrative account, or an Editor account and using bookmarks? An Editor account would throw that error (been there done that).
I am the sole administrator for the site. I access the plugin option pages and the theme pages via the dashboard links, so I'm not using any bookmarks. The plugins causing most problems are all pretty recent so I am not sure :S
I would first try changing your theme to the default Twenty10 and see if that corrects the issue. If not, you have ruled out your theme being the problem. Then I would try disabling each plugin one at a time, until the problem goes away. You will either rule that out, or find the culprit.
Oh boy. That was a stupid answer. My bad. It just appeared to me that you may not be able to do either of those operations. Let me know if that is the case. There is a way to disable plugins and your theme via phpMyAdmin.
I reinstalled wordpress and everything again, fresh database and files then reuploaded my themse and plugins but again getting the same problem. Any ideas??
Switch back to the default TwentyTen theme and no plugins. If everything is okay, then the problem is in a plugin or the theme. Next, activate your plugins one at a time while you check functionality in Admin. Then activate your theme. Don't just load everything back up and then do testing.
That's worked a treat for me The plugin causing the problem is Publish 2 Ping.fm so now that's deactivated Thank you soo much Rep given for you help
Gracias. It seems the You do not have sufficient permissions error has been going on for at least 8 months, and the plugin has not been updated or support answers for longer than that. How important is that plugin for you?
It's pretty important to me because I rely on ping.fm to update twitter and facebook together.. so I am going to try and find an alternative!!
You can try WP-to-Twitter plugin which will Tweet your posts automatically. It is stable and handles any of the short Url services. And then there is a Facebook (or Twitter?) app that will link the two accounts. I am pretty sure it is a Facebook App that pulls in your Tweets.
That's one way around it, I haven't been around facebook for a while though (Frape incident) so I am not down with it :S But I'll look into it.. Thanks though
