my site is no2 or no 1 in google for about 14 keywords and i get a good share of traffic my competitor gets about the same but recieves a lot of traffic from people typing in the site name but with spaces. ie carandbus.com search = car and bus should i get backlinks for car and bus and try to be top of google rather than his site even though its his domain name? from seo link spy he only has about 50 links with this keyword and very low pr from the links maybe a quick xrummer blast will do the trick
Yes you should try for some high PR relavent do follow links. It depends on your domain age, if its old than 1 year or so then you can use xrummer blast else I would suggest you to go for manual submissions moreover there is nothing like having a 50k links would help in SERP you can beat him by having few hundreads do-follow relevant high PR links.
It is hard to beat exact keyword domains. With just a few backlinks they rule the number one spot. You can try as hard as you like and never beat them.
