Google no longer showing my homepage in keyword search

I'm wondering if anyone can help out a gal who has been working steadily at SEO on her photography site for the last 5-6 months. I have a blogger (blogspot) site that was moving up gradually in the search engine rankings based on my keywords. I started on page 30 or so for Google, and now I am on page 5 or 6, which isn't too bad when competing with 200-300 other local photographers. I noticed recently when I check my ranking with my keywords, my homepage no longer shows up, but a post I did about 10 posts ago does instead (on page 6 or 7). Most of my backlinks point to my homepage, not the individual posts.

An example would be if you searched on "cable news online", you would expect to find www.cnn.com, not www.cnn.com/2/10/2011/story125634/index.html...right?

Does this even matter? I assume my homepage would rank higher than one of my posts for a photographers blog

Maybe it's because Google is having an updates and a fluctuation happens to affect your site. just wait for a couple of weeks and your site's ranking will be back to its place if its really meant to be on that rank.

Ok, I will keep an eye on it. I guess it isn't a big deal, and I know google moves new pages up higher for a while, and then brings them back down, so maybe its just some of those fluctuations as you say. I just worry my main page could be higher than ever, but is been penalized or something.

There might be more useful content regarding the keyword on that page, than your homepage.
