I'd love to learn more about it. It makes a lot of sense. I wonder if they'll integrate an app store?

I think I read an article in The economist about google os or was it chrome os and it's supposed to be just a browser. very quick booting time (15-20 seconds) but if you are not online you don't have an os. anyways i am a bit pessimistic with g's privacy issues and data collection.

I have a Google Chrome Laptop. I was one the lucky few to get to test it. It's just called Chrome OS because that's the operation system on it, "Chrome OS". Thing is wicked fast but it's meant solely for the internet. It works off the "Cloud" concept for saving files. You start it up and sing into the OS with your email and password associated with your gmail account.

It boots in about 5-8 second and resumes from sleep in less than 1 second. Super lightweight and has a long battery life, about 6-8 hours depending on use.

No, it won't be free, it will cost as much as an ordinary netbook from what I've read. Like $350-500.

So, it's actually a gadget not only software, right? I though it was like Windows OS, an advanced and more sophisticated OS.
