You really expect him to back it up? The MoonBat Ideology preaches that if one says it, it must be so. Too say it on an internet forum? It must be all the more true.
No he's not! (Times 10!) Geesh, Mia, can the title of the song you are listening to possibly be any longer? Listening To: A Cappella Holiday - all contemporary a cappella holiday music... something different and lovely for the holidays! sister station to A Cappella Always, http://acappellaalways.com
I know, I just noticed that... I would have thought VB would have truncated it. Hillarious... I have some strange musical tastes and a iTunes library that just won't stop. I'm actually streaming that from my office to the home, then wirelessly via an Airport express...
I think the government should make alcohol illegal again - it certainly is not good for anyone in any meaningful sense, and any benefits that may arise from the occasional drink are certainly outweighed by all the negatives that come from drinking and driving, underaged drinking, addiction, etc. And it seems that most of the people in this thread would support such a decision because the very same reasons it's good to make online gambling illegal work for alcohol as well, right?
And after alcohol, the vast majority of pharmaceutical drugs should be made illegal...or at least not so easily shoved down the collective throat of the world...and no "pills" should be able to be sold online and/or shipped anywhere in the USA. Let's help the politicians help us - What else...what else should be illegal?
guess my point of view is: be careful what "freedoms" you allow to be taken away, they are always more difficult to get back.
false analogies? explain. analogy: "a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based" Like features of two things, not necessarily like things.
None of it should. And your very unamerican to go around telling everyone else what they can't do. It's people like you that causing this country to lose it's greatness. This is supposed to be the land of the FREE, not the land of "only do what i think is good" You don't want gambling or alcohol legal? Go to Saudi Arabia, you'll love it over there
If I sit in my house, in Riverview, FL. Gambling is illegal. There are not casinos in riverview, I cannot go to a slot machine in riverview, etc. I have to drive up to the indian grounds (about 5 miles away) to get ripped off. However, if I log onto my computer, I can gamble online. Thus, I am circumventing the law by using technology not conceived of when the law war originally written. This simply closes that loophole. And does it poorly, if you actually read the law. Thus, nothing is being taken from you. The law was already in place and has been forever. You can argue about the merits of both local and internet gambling in the jurisdiction, fine. There are also dry and wet counties where you cannot buy alcohol on given days. While I think that's stupid, nothing stops anyone from trying to change the law to change the county laws or driving to another county to buy alcohol.
"None of it should. And your very unamerican to go around telling everyone else what they can't do. It's people like you that causing this country to lose it's greatness." Facetious and Sarcasm are concepts you might want to familiarize yourself with.
Agreed. You can only gamble in certain areas. Currently in my part of the country, the Philadelphia area, lawful gambling establishments are growing at quite a pace. Gambling is gambling - it is either bad or it isn't - the only difference between online and real world gambling is that the large casinos don't control the online action quite the way they do on land. In certain states, you can't gamble, it's not legal, but this law is a federal mandate that covers the nation preventing online gambling...isn't the message that gambling, no matter the form or location, is bad? Or is there perhaps another reason for this decision? PS - interesting conversation nonetheless...thx for the read. 8)
So then people should be able to drink until they can't see straight then drive home, huh? (Thats a tame example of course)
I stated previously in this thread. I do not have a problem with gambling persay. I don't care either way. But, fact is - people who gamble have higher unemployment, higher drug use, higher crime rate, etc. People lose their lives to it. In a society where I have to pay for their mistakes (via some sort of government subsidy), I have to be opposed to things I'd normally not care about, simply because I don't want to pay for their mistakes in life. I also think regulation is part of the problem, too. In Nevada, for example, slot machines HAVE to pay out a certain percentage, by law. If they do not, it is severely punished. Online slots probably do not have such restrictions, so its a lot easier to get taken for lots of money. Card games online are easily fixable by the people who host the card game. I think there are lots of problems there, but that's even beyond the scope of what I care about. When I go to Vegas, I expect to lose my money; and have an acceptable amount to lose before I quit. If I come out ahead, great. Its not a "gambling is bad" issue with me.
