this is how you calculate bounce rate: Bounce rate = total number of visits viewing only one page / total number of visits
Here is the exact definition from Wikipedia – “Bounce rate represents the average percentage of initial visitors to a site who “bounce†away to a different site, rather than continue on to other pages within the same site.â€
Google likes bounce rate to be low - the lower the better In other words your site is interesting enough for people to stay and click on something (another page or link) But another very important parameter is how long people stay on your site - if they leave after a couple of seconds and you have a high bounce rate Google will almost certainly consider your site has no value
I don't think there is any specific percentage which the bounce rate "should" be since an "ideal" rate can be different for two different sites.
Google analytics gives only bounce rate percentage not the number so is there any way where we can find the bounce rate number.
You should be able to work out the number as analytics tells you number of visitors then % of those visitors that bounce
you will have a lot higher bounce rate if the traffic isn't targeted too, so if certain keywords are causing high bounce, generally they are probably using that keyword too look for something else
bounce rate is the people that din not spend more than seconds on your pages .. to calculate bouce rate, it give you the percentage is out of the total traffic . Just find out the numbers of traffic you get, then use the bounce rate to times with the traffic as total and you get the answer.
A high bounce rate might be good also! If you have a adsensefocused website, a high bounce rate it's the goal
I never considered that google could be using the bounce rate and time spent on a site to determine if that site contains quality relevent content but it would make sense for google to do this. Whether they actually take this into account is another matter. Does anyone know for sure whether this is a factor?
the bounce rate is depend on the content of your site page it depend on how many pages visitor visit in your site/total number of visits
I agree with andre01. Bounce Rate depends on content of page and also depends on how many pages in your site.
I also do not know exactly. It is related to visitors taking time of your web page, and how many pages they view etc. Alexa automatically counts it and display it. try it out for alexa rank and you will get this information also.
Thanks for such a nice discussion.... But can anybody tell me, that the bounce rate on my site is around 56%, Does it anyhow effect the ranking of the page....
