$1.95/year. .com or .net at hostway?

www.hostway.com says $1.95/year. .net or .com for your first domain, which i think is a pretty good price.

has anyone here used them before?
it says hostway so i assume its more of a webhost, do they allow you to have full control over the domains and point to your hosting? or anything like that?

I'm always weary of getting domains with webhosts because they seem to never wanna let the domains go. It was hard for me to get mine from yahoo geocities a few years ago.

    Anyone use them?

$1.95 is a pretty good price.

crap i noticed just now that i posted this in the wrong domains forum. Please move moderators. im sorry

I have most of my domains at hostway, there a bit slow at registering names but thats my only issue so far e.g. I regged a name 4 hours before someone else and they got it? Yet it still shows under my control panel

maybe they saw that you were registering and thought it was good and got it for themselves :p

    kidding, that'd be messed up.

I noticed their site was super slow just checking to see if a domain was available.

It's preety cheap...but is hosting compulsory with them if we register a domain there? I hope fisher can answer me please since he is already using. And any extra charges on DNS services, forwarding etc?

EDIT: I just checked the registration steps, went through them and found that they charge $7.95 for .com...hows that?

It comes down to personal preferences....but I personally am up all day and night working on my sites and domains. Customer service can sometimes be vital. These people only have customer service available during certain times only. I don't think that that is a wise decision. In comparison to what I pay at NorthBoard.com, I pay right about $8.00 for a .com name, I spend an additional $6.00 but I have a 24/7 tech support service to help me no matter when I need it year round. That can be a serious difference in a situation where you need a fixon a nameserver issue, hosting issue, or whatever else, I don't think the extra cost of $6.00 is much to ask to be able to have that support at my fingertips whenever I need it. If you go with these guys, how much might you have lost by not being able to launch your new site, fix a hosting problem, etc...How much is your time worth?? Serious things to consider.

    Good luck...
