I've read several comments about Hostgator, all good. I'd like to get some more opinions. What exactly is the difference between the main hosting account domain and the add-on domains? Are there any restrictions or disadvantages to using add-on domains? I liked the Hostgator Baby hosting plan because I'll have several hundred mini-sites of 1-5 pages all for 1 low price. Are there any gotcha's when using Hostgator?
I've got several subdomains (add ons) on my hostgator account and it is still quite easy to work between them on cpanel, see the stats separate, install Wordpress or other fantastico elements, all with easy. HostGator has the stuff, in my opinion. If you are planning on that many minisites, I personally don't think you'll go wrong with HG!
The main domain is basically the primary domain that is associated with your account. An addon domain is another domain that you can host on your hosting account. Most hosting providers allow unlimited addon domains. There really isn't any difference between them, you have the same options for your main domain that you do with addon domains. It's just that most hosting platforms require a single domain identifier for their file systems, and any domains added after that are stored within the domain on the file system. But it makes no difference to the end user.
I host several websites on my Hostgator baby plan with no complaints. Add-on domains are a great feature and well worth going for the baby plan instead of the hatchling where you can only host 1 website.
hostgator would be a great choice for it. i used the business plan for a while in the past without any problem.
I'm a big fan of hostgator, they've provided me excellent support (above and beyond) and none of my sites have ever gone down, I have a similar setup to what you are describing, I think you'd do fine with them.
Hi, I can only say that Hostgator has a fantastic Web Hosting service. Only yesterday I needed some support and they answered back in less than an hour. Go for it...
I don't use it myself but I did hear about them putting a link footer in web sites a little while ago.
Yes I'd agree used Hostgator for 5 years now all been good, their support is great and their systems are just easy to use thats what i like and need
