There's a difference between hiding links in the script and having a single link somewhere on the theme.... Wordpress got bitchslapped by Google a few years ago for hiding links in the code. Don't do it. Do however, place a single link in the footer (or anyplace that looks good). People can remove it if they wish, but the majority of people leave it.
Sorry don’t agree with you on that. If they’re offering the template it means they’re giving something to the public, so by hiding links on the template that’s just dishonesty. I hope you know that by adding links all over your template that could actually hurt your blog.
What is going to happen if Google realizes how this high PageRank has been created? a.) Would this be a reason for Google to ban a specific domain who uses this technique? b.) Would this be also a reason to be banned and kicked out of AdSense? Sincerely George
No, there is no reason for google to ban a domain. The webmaster is not trying to manipulate search results in a spammy way. I don't think it will hurt the domain.
What is " wordpress theme "? and how it wroks? can you guy advise? Sorry, I am completly new in this term..
No, I do realize that having hidden links can hurt my blog. However, I guess it's just a gray line in terms of removing links put there by the creator...I mean your not forced to use it.
that's what we are doing for each for our site. getting backlinks was a tough job before we find this way, we didnt believe on free things but it still works
You aren't kidding. The last Wordpress theme I used the author hid 7 DEEPLINKS. Haha, excessive. He now gets one no-followed link, as he deserves. I imagine most people with any kind of PR of their own know better than to spread it to the the template maker.
I think if you looked at things in a different light then perhaps it is not old news per say. Think outside the OPs sphere... make a new design,,,a new script....write a new article ....anything new.....give it to websites & blogs "relevant" to your category and soon you'll do well in PR & more importantly taffic!!!!! Subigo, good post as a blueprint anyone can adapt to themselves and use!!
Exactly, one link is more than enough, especially because the more links they nest all over the template the less it will count. The worst part is that we can actually be penalized by Google because of this.
Yes, this is the big problem, as you and other knowledgable SEO knows. We can't give 7 deeplinks to another website because of a template. The author deserves one link (for traffic), but nothing more.
Thanks for sharing the tips.. I've seen that many sites that offer free wordpress templates have decent pr's. But the problem is I am not good at making templates BTW,your theme looks very nice,I'll use it in one of my blogs ,thanks for the great job
