On 27.1,i was penalized on my major keyword and 4898 others, and as result instead in top 10 i ended in top 400.But it took only 2 days till it recovered to normal positions. But today now again same case as before which is totally weird,as i dont remember did i read anywhere how someone was penalized twice in such a short period of time.Last time when i was penalized,it was completely same situation as now, penalized on majority of keywords but still first on few of them. Before penalization took three weeks,i hope this second in row penalization wont be long as original penalization.Anyone have a tip how to prevent this penalization in future?
Well that is fun with google, they never tell you why are you penalized. But i indeed noticed some problems with duplicated words in google webmaster tools,so i fixed that problem. And the irony is,it still showing that problem in webmastertools, and now it showing how i have missing titles in archives (i removed titles due to duplication).I fixed that too now,so each archive page now have unique title instead duplicated or missing.Hopefuly that will work,i will report in 2 days progress. And one question, should i use 301 redirect from non www to www?Currently non www ranks on keywords, and i have set to ignore non www in webmaster tools.
you usually have to wait 7-21 days after fixing it to see the changing in webmastertools report. As long as the reported date doesn't change from the first time it's showing it means you have done what is required and it will go away finally. I don't think it matters whether you use www or not for 301 redirect, but that's just my opinion Good luck with that.
I had a similar issue, apparently with duplicate content and selling text link ads. I fixed them immediately and it went away within a week.
It's just normal that Google would lower you if they believe you are doing something wrong. The problem with Google is they do not tell you what you are getting penalized for, so you have to work this out yourself
Google itself says that there is no such thing about duplicate content penalty. But Google will penalize if you are scraping content from other sites and publish them on your website without any changes. Creating multiple domains or web-pages with great duplicate content(content that is exactly similar/matching with other content) are some of the practices strictly prohibited by Google. Stay cool! don't worry with short changes. You can redirect pages from www to non-www or its vice versa by using .htaccess file. You can do that by yourself by reading instructions from this link: http://bit.ly/fy3egn. All the best
"Buying or selling links that pass PageRank is in violation of Google's webmaster guidelines and can negatively impact a site's ranking in search results." And I appreciate you had followed the guidelines! Bro, he knows this and had explained it in his reply to muxin
It is normal to going from position 1 to 20,going to position 400 is abnormal. Sellling ads it's not bad, selling hardlinks it is. And the irony is i didn't touched site for ages.Maybe this is a wake up call from google how i need to update some content on site.
there is no such thing as a 2 day penalty. How old is the site, how 'fast' and consistent are you building links? You could be in the dance, grab a partner.
If you're breaking the google rules, then of course, they're going to screw you. Results don't go up and down like that - unless your site is stable, doesn't have enough backlinks, or it has duplicate content.
You should redirect non www version to www version. By keeping both the versions active, you are actually creating duplicacy within your own website. This way your page rank and search engine rankings will have negative impact
Yes that is why i ask, since i also have some backlinks to non www and some to www, this why it should combine those backlinks and ignoring non www in webmaster tools probably wont help in that case.
Google isn't screwing you. YOU are trying to screw Google with your garbage web site. Those of us with REAL jobs and who make REAL, useful web sites have NO such issues.
Lol you didnt even seen site yet concluded how site is garbage.Great success. Not to mentioned how other similar sites have obvious duplicated content yet they are not penalized. Also this duplicate title problem is new thing on google, and this could be major problem for blog script users, like this one: http://flatpress.org/home/blog.php have title flatpress, then when you enter into entry title from main page will show,so if you have 10000 entries that's automatically 10000 duplicates.
New sites fluctuate a lot more than old ones. Best thing to do is just wait it out. I've seen people stress way too much in the first weeks and months of their website with its search engine positions when they really just need to chill, focus on making that website awesome and in time the results will come.
