There's a difference between an opinion's being incorrect, and its holding society back. I'm fairly certain that securesite's opinion would have been even more prevalent during the Industrial Revolution, and yet that period constituted some of the fastest advancement in the history of the world.

I don't think that an opinion on gay marriage has any effect on society, regardless of the opinion. It's blatant and unhelpful hyperbole to suggest that someone is "holding society back" due to the opinion they post to an Internet forum.

I disagree with their stance, but I believe more businesses should take a stance. Too many try to be mainstream by not offending anyone. Screw that, be unapologetic and let your opinions known.

What I don't understand is, why would gays WANT to be married in the first place??? Why would you go out of your way to want to belong to a group with a definitive failure rate of over 50%? I've been married (8+ years) and never have any desire to do so again. Been with my lady over 10 years and both of us have been married & divorced. There is absolutely no reason to be married as any legal/financial benefit can be pretty much replicated via other contracts. The government has absolutely no business in my relationships thankyouverymuch.

I think we'll see much more hubbub about the first gay divorce, personally.

I think you're a little off on your facts there... You'd be surprised: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animals_displaying_homosexual_behavior

I agree though with the OP. Private business has a right to do what it wants politically... Personally I try to keep my business completely separate from my political leanings. One thing I learned a long time ago when a gay friend of mine told me that the advertising company he was using for his very busy gay site ended their relationship cause McDonalds had threatened to pull out as an online advertiser.

First thing came to mind was, gay people eat hamburgers too.

The consequence of ignorance means sometimes having to take an unpopular stand against something that is not necessarily to your liking.

I wasn't pinpointing the individual posting an opinion on a forum. I was making the point that general opinion in society is holding it back. When politicians, media and businesses have that opinion of homosexuals then society is being held back.

As stated in my earlier post, they would have had that opinion during the Industrial Revolution. How did it hold society back?
