I have a client with 500,000 legitimate recipients. Any suggestions? I'm considering installing PHPList. I might try their hosted option but their is no reasonable support (3 working days is NOT reasonable).

Can I use any host for this?
Any other options? (constant contact not an option).

    Thanks!!!

    Hi Bro,

Look no further than these 'BIG 4':
    1.Aweber
    2.GetResponse
    3.iContact
    4.InfusionSoft

These 4 autoresponder companies are the most solid ones I know of, and top marketers rely on them, day in, day out.
For 500,000 subscribers your client will pay around $1000 per month or more, but with such a number of clients he should be able to afford it.
If your client cares about his business and his reputation, I wouldn't resort to cheap solutions such as PHPList.
When you send newsletters, deliverability is key and these 4 companies specialize in it. Besides, their support is great (24/7 Live chat or phone support in most cases, I believe) and depending on the service, you can track essential data about your subscribers, conduct surveys, send video emails.

Infusionsoft is probably the most advance and would even allow you to incorporate a shopping cart and an in-house affiliate plan.

    Hope that helps,
    Adam:)

Thanks Adam - good list. I just went through them all and am hitting the same wall. All want proof that it is an opt-in list. Not sure my client can prove that.

I might have to install a list manager on an independent server and hope for the best.

    Thanks!!

    I see what you mean.
    Try this service as well:
    http://tinyletter.com/

Even though it's not a full-fledged autoresponder, they do simple newsletters.
Now, don't be mislead by the simplicity of the site. This service relies on a serious mailing company who specialize in deliverability.
    I've forgotten their name though.

I would advise you to go to the Contact Us section and drop them a line with your questions. I've had a word with the service owner, Pad. He's a cool guy and he said that they can import lists upon demand. So maybe he can help you or appoint you to someone else who can...
