It's a tech blog I run. My rank is around 2.5 lakhs now. Does that sound appropriate?

    it should have been better.
alexa ranking algorithm is not that sophisticated. they count visitor and pageviews from people who use alexa toolbar.
if you have higher pageviews usually its better.

It is generally considered as the Alexa Rank less than 100,000 is much better for the websites. You have good rank and you can further improve it close to 100,000 or less.

Alexa rank doesnt do much for your website other then "brag" on the supposed traffic coming in. It also depends on how many of those avg users view your website using the alexa toolbar. But whatever floats your boat

I agree but it does give a good impression. I've been asked my Alexa rank when I asked for gadget reviews. It was 5,00,000+ then. I got no replies.

One of my sites is around 250,000 and averaging around 1200 visitors per day. Since yours is a tech blog I'd guess that a higher proportion of people are using the Alexa toolbar. However, the Alexa ranking is pretty meaningless - you should concentrate on improving your site stats rather than your Alexa ranking.
