Hello, (forgive my english, it's not my first language :p)
I recently discovered this all marketing, viewing Mass Money Makers videos.
So I'm kind of new here..
I only watched the first 2 videos, and an hour from the third, but i got stucked there because i'm not sure what domain name should i pick in order to get to the top page of google.
i did what they said, i used the "market samurai" program and "google tool keyword" to find a whole bunch of words to choose from for my domain name.
they strickly said that i shouldnt pick something just because i like it. it has to be under 35k compiting sites.
so i did excatly what he did in the video and i got like 213 words to choose from - words that are also good for my article in the web page.

although he suprisingly, out of the blue came with this list of 10 keywords for the article and chose one from it to be in his domain name.

So my question is how did he got from 200 words into 10? just pick them randomly? i really doubt that.. because as i said he told the viewer NOT to pick randomly.

My guess is that the keywords he chose have a couple of factors going for them, which should both be weighed into your decision 1) popularity of the keyword 2) competition for the keyword.

I think what they were probably trying to tell you is that it is very good if your domain name has your main keyword phrase in it. They were also telling you to try to keep your main keyword phrases under the 35000 mark. That 35000 is way too low for me, but you can try it and see what works for you.

So, lets say you found a keyword phrase like "build a house". And that phrase was under your 35000 mark. What you would want to do is to try to get:
buildahouse.com for your domain name. Having your keywords in your domain name is very important. If you can't get "buildahouse.com", you could try buildahouse.net, or build-a-house.com or some other variation of that term. As a last resort, you could even try "buildahousecheaply.com. In that case, you still have your main keyword phrase in it which is what you want to try to do.

    Hope this helps!!

When you are choosing a keywords you still have to research how hard the competition will be. Let's say you have about 200 keywords gather, you need to check them one by one and see if you can rank them easily. Good thing you have market samurai, it will make your work easier. I agree on zeekstern regarding the keyword in domain. It's very important. It's one of the top factors when ranking for the search engine results.

The thing is I understood the part where I need to find keywords with a competition less than 35000 to get into first page, though there are like 200 phrases I found, after I have filtered using Market Samurai that has less than 35000 competitive sites.
So what now? just choose the one I like the best? can't I filter again somehow the words, so i'll find the best ones?

First of all, that figure of 35000 doesn't mean squat. You will hear that you need to get keywords where the competition figure is set to less than 15,000, or 20,000, 30000, 50,000 etc.
Why do you think that is? The main reason is that theoretically, it is claimed that you will get to the front page of google because of there being "less competition". While that sounds good in theory, it doesn't work that way in the real world. There is much more to it than that. In fact, I've seen folks get on the front page with well over 175,000 competing pages, by just using a good back linking strategy, good original content, and an optimized website.

That crap with giving you a small number for the number of competing pages is used to sell you these tools, reports, etc. Enough ranting on that;)

So what do you do now? Well, that depends on what type of site you will have. Will it be for long term or is it just a mini site with a couple of pages. Are you going to be doing article marketing? If so, pick one that makes sense and you can write about. Make your homepage based on that one phrase you pick. Then use the others for other pages on your site, other articles etc.

Can you dig deeper? Certainly. The more the merrier:))

Use the SEO competition mode. You want to find keywords that you stand a chance of ranking for (first 10 in the SERPs, second page doesn't give you significant traffic for most keywords). You're looking for number of backlinks, lower is better, but you can dig deeper and see anchor text, PR, etc. All of the items listed on that page will figure into Google's algorithms somewhat, but the more green you see the better.
