I own a domain name that is also my main keyword so what url structure is better to use example http://handbag.com/prices or http://handbag.com/handbag-prices If I am trying to aim for a keyword "handbag prices" thanks jack
Until recently, I would have had said second option. However, I recently had one of my sites receive a MASSIVE penalty - knocked from p1 to below p50 - when I overoptimised; I removed the over-optimisation and the site returned to p2 within a week. When I asked for help from a different forum, I was told that keywords in the urls and internal navigation do little to help and are instrumental in tripping spam filters. If you decide to use lots of keywords in the urls then do so with care.
I will go with the first because "handbags" already existed in your domain name.. there is no need to repeat it twice in your URL.
Hi It obvious that the 2nd option is better one. It is page name = keyword. I mean if you use the first option it also contains both words of your keyword phrase "Handbag" and "Prices" but it doesn't contain the whole keyword. it like 'AllInTitle" google attribute. i think i have cleared the point.
The 2nd one should be fine. There's much more to over-optimisation than just the URL name. As long as you don't keyword stuff I don't think you'll have problems.
Keyword in URL is not a spamming technique. As we all know that Google always appreciate the work for user. Keywords in URL gives user a better experience while navigating. May be you are right but I think its not the case for over optimization. I suggest you to go with second option.
First one, there is no need of duplicate words in the domain name, it won't give any exta seo benefits and it will only make the link longer which in turn makes it less attractive.
I would also say to use the 2nd option, but then I noticed that you repeat your keyword so it's better if you go with 1st option.
Number one based on the presented choices. Think about your users. Which url are they more likely to remember? Which url makes more sense? Number one The same applies to search engines. Ideally, you could use handbag.com/prada/prices. or handbag.com/guci/prices....etc
first one looks more beautiful and shall take you long way, slow but long way. Second one can get you ranks quicker maybe, but its recipe for a penalty. If iam you, i will go iwth option 1.
