Hi all, I currently have paid hosting for my website (in signature) with GoDaddy and am having problems with GZIP compression. I have submitted numerous support tickets about enabling GZIP for my account but they still have not got back to me, so am thinking of switching my website to another host that allows GZIP. I currently am using: <?php if (substr_count($_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT_ENCODING'], 'gzip')) ob_start("ob_gzhandler"); else ob_start(); ?> Code (markup): ...to GZIP my pages as that is the only way I can utilise GZIP at the moment. I know that this method isn't the ideal way, but I can't utilise GZIP via .htaccess because of GoDaddy so currently do not have other methods I can use. If anyone can recommend a reputable website hosting company that does enable GZIP via .htaccess please post on this thread and send me a PM. I also have a self-hosted Wordpress blog so am looking for a host that would enable me to easily migrate databases etc over from GoDaddy. Would really like something that is hassle-free and has prompt customer support. Please do not post your affiliate links!
I have some additional questions, what are your requirements in terms of space and bandwidth. What about budget?
Hi Wajdan, I got your PM and checked out your hosting company, and am impressed by what I saw . Just added a bunch of questions for you to answer... At the moment your "Budget Hosting Basic" package looks like it would suit my needs for the time being, would your company send out emails if I get close to exceeding space and/or bandwidth capacities? Because that will help me determine whether I will need to upgrade etc. Also I forgot to ask in the PM I sent you, can you provide me with some reviews of your services?
I am sorry, but you will have to check usage statistics using our cPanel control panel. As for reviews, here you go: http://www.cerisehost.co.uk/client-testimonials.html
