Dear all, At the moment my website gets like 500/600 daylie visitors via Google, thats nice but with my otherwebsite (same nich, almost same content) was it much higher. Im trying to get some backlinks but its not really working. What is usefull? high pr backlinks i suppose but normally the dont link back to a PR0 website (website got 4500 pages in google and domain age of almost 1,5year). How should i start this up. Thnx for the help!
Use niche targeted websites that are not a direct competitor of yours. Once you get that all taken care of and start building relevant links to your site, you will start to see a little more google love.
If your goal is to improve your PR and popularity of your Website, you have to care that the Sites you tarde links are subject-related and preferrably have better ranking than you. One more tip, keep on checking whether the link to your Website remains on their Site....

Being on the first page of Google and having good PR are two distinctly different things. What's your Website's PR? Did you check?
You could try writing some articles with with links from keywords. It sounds like you are already getting a good amount of traffic though.
Pagerank is important but not everything. Google is more concerned about trust these days but page rank is still part of the algorithm. So yes, get some high PR links but don't make it an obsession.
Don't forget to do on-site optimization, check your meta title, descriptions and keywords. Get any kind of PR, it would be suspicious if you're only getting high PR sites, do natural link building.
If you want to increase traffic to your site, then you should monitor keywords that you are currently ranked top 10 and try to obtain top 3. Try to target keywords that have higher monthly average search volume. Using free tools like Google Webmaster, Google Analytics and Google Adwords Keyword Tool can help you identify most potential keywords with high volume. Do some SEO (onsite and offsite) to increase current ranking and you will be able to see the traffic boost in your analytics.
In my experience directories are not very helpful and take forever - or not at all - to add a Site. For ranking you may want to try posting comments on well-ranking blogs that are on a similar topic as your Website. For traffic consider social networks like Facebook or Twitter. Good luck!
