I have a huge discrepancy between what Google Analytics and Statcounter gives me. I don't know if I have done something wrong. But for the Month of January on StatCounter I am showing an average of 25 visitors per day and on Google I am showing 2 visits for the entire 27 days. It would seem to me that if the code were not on the site right, then GA would show 0 visits, not two. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!
Google analytics collects data differently to Statcounter. On my blog I use Google and Wordpress Stats invariably Wordpress counts more visitors than Google. It's not always the case though. On the odd occasion the numbers are reversed. None of them are completely acurate.
I never use Statcounter, I just use Google, I just think Google analytics can give the right result. Just because most of our traffics are come from Google, do you think so?
Google gives a more accurate report on genuine human visitors. It filters out more bots, and deals with dynamic ips more accurately by using cookies to ascertain returners. I've said it before and I'll say it again - resist the temptation to assume that GA is wrong because it's giving smaller numbers, that is more likely to be an accurate reflection of visitors.
Google is the best as all knows. If you want traffic from a search engine then you will prefer the search engine's tools because it includes more relevant & more visible analysis. But Stat counter is also very reliable tool.We can't deny him.
Thanks for all of the comments, but it is not helping me. Statcounter will show my visits when I turn off the cookie. Google Analytics will not show my visits and even after I visited my page it will show 0 visits, obviously something is not correct on GA. I'll have to dig around and see what the problem is. I was just hoping someone else had the same problem and had the solution.
For me, Statcounter has always given me bigger numbers. Just an observation on my part, I don't know what to make of it, and I'm still trying to figure out which of the 2 to lean on more heavily...
GA isn't in real time, statcounter is, it's the one advantage that stacounter has over GA, but if you're trying to find your own hits, that's likely to be what's causing the confusion
Magda, Thanks for the response but I am talking about waiting a day and then veiwing the results. When I check my recent came from on Stat counter the traffic is coming from my articles (ezine) or links on other sites or my press releases, it is showing real traffic on Stat Counter. GA is showing little if anything. The only reason I would care is if somehow Google penalizes my site for the lack of traffic
Whenever you'll want to sell a site or just advertising on it, any client will ask you for your Analytics stats. Not Awstats, no statcounter. Analytics is the standard now, so it's a good idea to track your traffic with it too.
I consider Google analytics tool not a statcounter for the reason that Google analytics tool is such a nice tool provide by Google.
Definitely stick with use google analytics because as others have said it counting real genuine traffic to your website. As well as the fact you can really look into different aspects such as time of visit, pages per visit, etc.
Hi Afsportsbets, is it just me or do google constantly and purposefully manipulate the data they give out? Have not used Statcounter, but am constantly frustrated by the discrepancy between GA and other inbound link counters!
According to me Google analytics is the best as i am also using Google analytics for the visitor checker for site like http://evidcomm.com
U might be geeting your own hits while google on its end count your visit at one only...that is why the result is different...
Apparently I had an error with the Google Code, I have gone through my first 5 pages and reinstalled the google code and the visitor counts are begining to match Stat counter. For example I had 37-28-28 on stat counter over 3 days and on GA I had: 1-10-14 [the 1 was the day before I changed the code] Question, is there a why to see entry pages on GA, like on stat counter? Thanks
from what i've read GA counts for approx 70% of your real traffic total. Its pretty good overall compared to other choices. The best would be your own logs, but even that isn't perfect.
Google Analytics gives you the report about traffic on your websites. It will tell you from where you get the traffic and through which medium (keywords,Search Engine,Direct or Relative Sites)
